Alright, deadline for getting your name in for the GAF Rumble is tomorrow at midnight GMT, apparently thats 7pm EST, 4pm PST. PM me if you want in.

Check and make sure I have you in, if I don't let me know.

The draw will be done shortly after the deadline.

The thread should go up before the deadline to manke anyone interested aware of it.

maaaaaaan I just realized that the last 4 winners of the Rumble: Del Rio :( Edge Orton and Cena didn't win the championship at Wrestlemania

so what's the fucking point of having it?

Because it was a tradition. Remember all beside Del Rio came back from an injury to win the Rumble. I was going with Orton but these are my 3 picks.

1. CM Punk
2. Wade Barrett
3. The Rock

To keep WrestleMania title matches interesting?

Why would CM Punk or The Rock win the Rumble.....??? They're not even in it.

Orton wasn't coming back from injury. He was the #1 guy in the whole company with Legacy. He beat up Vince before the Rumble and destroyed Stephanie before the Mania match.

Seems kind of dumb for Edge and Cena to come back early just to job.

The problem was...none of title matches were interesting . It was always over shadowed by something. Cena wasted his title shot at EC then the Triple Threat had nothing left after HBK/Flair. Orton/HHH was overshadowed by HBK/Taker. Edge/Jericho was overshadowed by HBK/Taker 2. Del Rio had to open the show up then he lost.

Reason why I pick CM Punk and the Rock are simple. WWE is going to try to throw us a swerve at Mania with WHC vs WWE Champion in a Triple threat match, or the Rock to wrestle Cena for the strap.

They've specified that ANY Superstar, even title holders, can be in the Rumble. It's not a confirmation that they ARE in, but it is possible.

I can't count how many swerves we had in the last 5 years at the Rumble. That is why I have picked CM Punk and The Rock. I won't be surprised if Dolph Ziggler takes the strap from CM Punk but we are talking about the WWE.

lol @ RVD randomly showing up at the 09 Rumble then crashed his spaceship on the way back to his home planet

I cant see WWE doing WWE vs WHC champs would be neat but nah.

That why I said it would be a triple threat. Throw another person in the equation and that person is the one that wins a title by pinning one of the champions.

I think WWE should do a losing streak for somebody, like Drew McIntyre, and let them win the Royal Rumble. We can call it the DDP "93-94" story.

I think if Punk was to win the Rumble, it'd be because he was screwed out of the title match by Johnny Ace. Otherwise I don't see why the WWE Champion would win the Rumble to challenge himself at WM28 lol.

Also, Del Rio curtain jerked WM27. Edge was a midcard match for WM26, Cena was third from last match at WM24. Taker was also stuck in the midcard for WM23. The only person to main event WM after winning the Royal Rumble in the last fuve years was Orton (against 'up and comer' HHH) - at WM25.

...Royal Rumble is not special anymore!!

He'd challenge Bryan for the WHC.

Why would Punk challenge someone he endorsed in Chicago's RAW.

Why would Punk challenge someone he WANTS to be champ? That's like saying he'll challenge Zack Ryder.

And come on, Bryan isn't big enough to face Punk at Mania. It's obviously going to be Jericho.

I don't advocate Punk winning, some other people suggested he could win and go for a title unification match.

I like the WHC title so I don't want to see it go in a unification. The WWE title will never feel as grand as it to me until they get rid of that atrocious belt.

It's gotta happen eventually but I could definitely see the Rumble winner winning the title at Mania then the MitB winner cashing in on them.

MUY BOI D BRI said he was going to cash in at Mania. So he could lose the title at the next ppv, be in MitB at Mania, win it, and cash in on whoever.

The Rumble would be a great place to debut Dean Ambrose (Moxley). Get him in early, and have him do his eccentric stuff for 30+ minutes, It would be a make it much easier for him to get his style over to the audience rather than throwing him in 3 minute matches.

Let's be real, Ambrose is going to debut in one of the regular 30 seconds squash matches against Funkasaurus.

I don't think so. Ambrose was already on the road with WWE, but they refused to use him on TV as they did not have a solid storyline to put him info for his debut, so are holding him back for now. It seems they want to get stuff right with him and Rollins

Yeh I think it was in the Observer that I read that HHH has told the creative team they aren't bringing up the best prospects in FCW (Rollins and particularly Ambrose) unless they have long term plans for what to do with them.

EDIT: Ah yeh, thats pretty much what the link says

Okay, every time I see that henry.gif I feel very sad. I mean I've seen nasty shit, but just seeing that is unsettling me hard for some reason.

Probably because the guy had to wait 15 years for his biggest push, then gets plagued with injuries. It sucks. =/

Christian is winning the Royal Rumble

ONE MORE MATCH.

I think we should make a seperate RR thread, just to prevent a PoliGAF style lock like what happened on Tuesday with the State of the Union. MMAGAF makes threads for their events, and this is one of the biggest of the year.

Lately they've forgotten that if you hype up a debut and debut with a gimmick, and with a story in mind, they can work right away without needing two years of jobbing or slaving to get somewhere. Brodus was sort of a fluke, as they botched the hype up vignettes wth the delays and debuted his new gimmick randomly.

Last people to debut like that were Sin Cara and Kharma, that was early last year.

Maybe you could say they did have anyone to debut, but a long time ago, they would constantly be running at least one vignette a week for an upcoming debut, even if it was a couple of months away.

I''ve been rewatching WWF 1998, and for quite a while they had weekly vignettes (and actual skits with him talking to the camera while "at work") hyping Val Venis' debut, and when he finally debuted, he already had a big reaction. Barely a couple of weeks after he debuted, they started the first vignettes for Edge, which were much more mysterious.

Start with vignettes for whatever Ambrose's gimmick will be at last a month (vignettes work best for establishing heels, I think), maybe even two months, before you debut him, then he can just walk straight into the mid card and help fill a soon to be huge gap (as Cody, Barrett and Sheamus move up to the main event).

I'm assuming he'll be Smackdown, anyway.

Not much to get excited about on the first half, but the second half kicks off well with Kenta Kobashi & Shuhei Taniguchi taking on the Kensuke Office/Diamond Ring duo of Kensuke Sasaki & Katsuhiko Nakajima, then Kotaro Suzuki & Atsushi Aoki defend their GHC Jr. Tag Team Titles against Atsushi Kotoge & Daisuke Harada from Osaka Pro. Next, Jun Akiyama & Akitoshi Saito attempt to recapture the GHC Heavyweight Tag Team Titles from New Japan's Giant Bernard & Karl Anderson, and in an excellent, hard-hitting main event Go Shiozaki defends his GHC Heavyweight Title against former GHC & ROH champion Takeshi Morishima.
