Japanese Music (Pop, rock and all 'dat) |OT|

it's an in-store Tower exclusive, and your copy must also be spoken for by phone. So unless you're in Japan or have a hookup there, you'll need to use a service like Accio Tokyo to order one as I did. And yes, it's very expensive to go that route!

Meh, I'll live without it, then. Thanks for the insight, though. I did try ordering via Yahoo! Shopping and it was totally there, but by the time Buyee got to it it was gone again. Maybe that was just a glitch, though, based on what you said.

The whole album is amazing, didn't expect to love it that.
Highlights are definitely Rewrite by Creepy Nuts, Solanin by yonige and Kimi to iu Hana by KANA-BOON.
Every act managed to showcase what's good about the originals while making it their own. Definitely can feel that they all love and respect Ajikan

I listened to some previews and it sounds amazing. I will definitely be getting this album.

Why is it 3 discs for 13 tracks?

I'm gathering the format is supposed to be seen as three separate EPs, one for each band member. Given that a jigsaw puzzle will be included I'll bet this will be more like an art-heavy collectors edition rather than a true expanded edition. Still, would have been nice to see an extra track on each that was somehow unique to that member.

They made a point of telling people there were no additional tracks or DVDs with the LE on Twitter, so I imagine this is intentional. Maybe they didn't want their poorer fans to feel burnt, which I think is quite laudable.

I received my copy of Superfly's LOVE, PEACE & FIRE album. I got the limited edition one which includes a 4th disc of instrumentals. The packaging is amazing, comes with a pretty thick booklet and each disc is housed in their own little sleeve. Such a well done greatest hits album. Also includes a shitload of music.
A great place to start if anybody is wanting to try Superfly.

Haha so the hotel I booked for the Miyavi concert in NYC is closing permanently after 67 years. Cool cool! And so the hunt begins anew... with only 2 weeks notice now...

Thought I found out because of one of y'all, but Ayumi Hamasaki's got music up on US Spotify including a couple of live albums/discs I didn't expect to see. It's not the whole setlist, but the live POWER OF MUSIC tour disc is a real treat.

Verdicts on stuff I put on my phone:

Charisma dot com: not not me: more mellow and large parts lacking that fierce flow I love but still fun, not their best, hashdark my favourite piece on it, not not me is pretty chill.

Shashimo 4: it's more shashimo

Kimi no Na wa: I probably should have just gotten radwimpz newest album

Radwimpz 4: dope as shit (I already had this just not on my phone)

Perfume:jpn: dope

Nier automata ost from YouTube: ohhhhh myyyy godddddddddddddddddd

Why do you misspell their naaaaaaaame

Just wanted to buy Mrs. GREEN APPLE's first DVD but I "accidentally" grabbed Keyakizaka46's single too
Guess I'm into idols for real now <.< (well, female idols I guess, cause I already liked Arashi and Kanjani8)

Their newly released first album is really great stuff. Just a matter of time before they blow up. (and the girl vocalist is ridiculously pretty)

Could I ask for recommendations here?

I used to listen to AKFG non stop 10ish years ago and loved it, but never went further then that, so I'm out of the loop. I guess I'm looking for stuff similar to that? and I'm willing to branch out too.

Just from YouTube surfing I've found & enjoyed:

Heavenstamp - 愛を込めて、ウェンディ

hypnotic & haunting video

Frederic - ONLY WONDER

^love this song. My GF is also playing it non stop and shes completely new to the scene. And that video is so jolly!

KANA-BOON / ないものねだり

^another one that's on repeat

Suchmos - A.G.I.T.

^ smoothhhh jam

Been listening to Eureka all day, really really enjoying this. Brightening my day up a good bit :)

Glad to hear that. You might also enjoy Wanima and My Hair is Bad.

Ai Otsuka's recent album is very mellow but I love it.
Also, amazarashi is legit! Been listening to their recent best album on repeat.

Yeah amazarashi are great. The tracklist of the compilation is pretty decent, but I'd recommend giving their real albums a try if you liked it. Some real gems hidden in their discography.

I did it!

Disclaimer: Not just Japanese stuff (but a lot of Japanese stuff)

I've worked hard on some Spotify playlists that offer a sampler platter of music I like from Asia. Rock, hip-hop, pop, vocaloid, ballad, instrumental, giant girl group... I've picked out a bunch of songs I really like and organized them into 3 playlists so far, 4.5 hours each, with the intent being that you could listen to them in order and enjoy the whole spectrum of sounds without too jerky of a jump from one genre to the next.

Also yes I know there are also some ex-pats and Asian-inspired foreigners snuck in a couple places. We can all be friends!

Anyway, so far only like 2 of my friends have taken me up on the offer to listen to these (they both really enjoyed them despite not being big Asian music guys), so I am releasing them unto the world. Please do enjoy!

Also are people in here watching (or did you already watch) Keyakizaka46's Who Killed Daigoro Tokuyama?

I started it when I was in Japan last year but then couldn't find it for months. I think Amazon Prime US just put it up.

3 episodes left to go for me. So good. It's like Twin Peaks in a Japanese high school (where all the students are Keyakizaka46 members).

Oh nice, it's on Amazon UK too.

It's really, really good. Great tone. The main girls all do an amazing job and all the adult characters are a riot.

I'm trying to get my "normal" American friends to watch this too. It's a legit good show; no Japanese music love required to enjoy. That said, the opening credits are amazing. What is the song? I can't find it anywhere. Don't think Keyakizaka is on US Spotify yet.

They have a VEVO account, not sure if it's blocked in the states, though.
