The quality of this lineup is astounding. Jump Super Stars is reportedly very very good, and we have what might be the best game released in July - Osu! Tatakae! Ouendan! Considering the DS has not even been out a year, the quality of games out right now in this amount of time (at least I think) is unparalelled for a system. Nintendogs, Kirby, Full Metal Alchemist, Jump Super Stars, Power Pocket Koushien, Famicon Wars, Caudeceus, a ton of awesome games. It's too bad I can't understand one lick of Japanese, or else I would be important games like crazy. I have to give it up for Nintendo; they didn't even go this balls out for the GameBoy Advance.

Werent you banned? :(

"but does it really need an appreciation Thread :/"

why not?

We had shit loads of DS hate threads, and i see loads of love threads for other machines, so i don't see why not.

Thank you very much, DCharlie. :) Why not have an appreciation thread? You all knew what this thread was about before you went in it.

Speaking of Jp only DS titles that are good...

I didn't want to derail the Ouendan thread, but what is with the Daigassou dislike? While I don't own Ouendan, I am glad that it's better than Daigassou. Can't really complain about having more good games. But I do own Daigassou and I think it's great. Sure it's a rhythm game stripped down to the essentials and it could use a few more songs, but on Pro mode, things get pretty darn frantic. I've still not beaten it yet.

It may not be the best rhythm/music game ever, but it does have the twist in that you can play the same song in 8 different ways (ie different music parts) which is very charming in of itself. The only complaint I have is that the DS is an ergonomic nightmare. If the sides were more curvy like the original GBA, it'd be fine but I hate the rectangular crap of GBASP/DS. In games that require fast and accurate shoulder button presses, the straight edge really hurts your hands.

*appreciates*

I agree about Band Bros. hurting the hands on Pro mode, and it needing curved edges. The blunt edges dig into the palms like a dull knife or something. I actually hated the game for a few days after unlocking Pro mode and stopped playing it for about a week.

On Ouendan, is the replay value very good? This has always had me concerned and leaning more on getting JSS or just forgetting both and waiting for AW:DS.

we need an American DS appreciate thread not Japan where the system and its lineup are pulling a Reggie

By "pulling a Reggie" you cannot mean its good. Cause the US line up still sucks monkey ass. You have to import to have more than 1-2 games that are worthwhile IMO.

I have put in more time this year on my DS than my Xbox and Cube combined (Famicon Wars at 50+ hours already!!)

I agree the DS lineup JP kicks ass, a little too much becuase its starting to get too expensive for me to keep up with the hits.

The Japanese lineup is very strong. I appreciate it. JSS is on it's way to my house, and I have Ouendan and Band Brothers as well and that's about it for my DS imports so far. August is going to be a good month for both regions as well.
