$500 is way too much for any console, but I don't expect a price greater than $400 anyway.
Onix said:Wait a minute.
You're saying you wouldn't pay $50 for a BluRay player :lol
ROFFL3S!!! Seriously, that's in the running for QOTY

Exactly.P90 said:I'm not the typical GAFer, but with 5 mouths to feed I won't be buying any console, no matter the name on the front of it, for $500 or $399 (or a tard pack for $299). Heck with $59 games. I'd only pay that for Zelda, Halo, and probably nothing else. the heck with $50 controllers, too. I'm not shelling out for a HD set either. My standard def set is just fine. My EDTV LCD set is just fine. That crap has gotta stop or only the addicted hardcore gamers will be buying consoles.
Note to MS, Sony and Nintendo: make gaming affordable or I'll get my entertainment elsewhere. I doubt I am alone with that statement.
Jiggy37 said:Exactly.
This is even more extreme, but Sony already lost me after the PS1 (which I did own) just with a $300 price point. I was a high school student when the PS2 launched and I'm a college student now; I didn't and don't have infinite mounds of capital to toss around, nor do I feel like getting irreparably deep into debt.
and I bet it didn't sell for shit.xexex said:people complaining about the cost of PS3 are little bitches
most expensive console ever, the RDI 'Halcyon' $2500 circa 1984?

one on the first price drop wich lasted one year.
and one when the PStwo was released.
and I took care of the first two I'm very jealous with my things.
so yeah if true $500 will make me think 10 times before picking one specially for something that it's not guaranteed to last you a good deal of time. a good showing of software can easily sway me though, but if the 360 offers the same for a cheaper price I'll go with 360. $500 it's just too much if that's the price of hardware? what about the software? $80? and I don't give a shit whether I can use all of the PS3 features that doesn't sell me I want games that's all.
Onix said:Regardless, if you are not a movie or video person at all ... then fine. If you have no plans for an HDTV, then why bother getting a next gen console?

Good god. 400-500 VIDEOGAME SYSTEMS?
*future morons*~"FUCK YEA!!!!!! 100$ GAMES! It's a GREAT DEAL! IT COMES WITH THE MOVIE ON THE BLU-RAY DVD!!!!"
Thanks for taking it in the ass, and driving up the price for everyone else.
ASSHATS.

For sure. I'm just AGAST with people yelling YAY! for a FIVE-HUNDRED DOLLAR VIDEOGAME SYSTEM.SolidSnakex said:There are pricedrops, just be patient and wait for them.

It's like buying a gallon of milk for 10$ and saying; "It pour's itself! It worth it!!"
I mean c'mon. Revolt against high prices, don't accept them for fucks sake....

I hate when people start accepting this type of bullshit, and spit out things like "well get a job or something" or "wait for a pricedrop" seriously, what the fuck wrong with you people paying $500 dollars for a console? are you people sane? when MS announced the 360 would cost $400 I cried and will wait for a price drop no way in hell I'm paying that much for a console let alone $500. suddenly handhelds are looking very attractive.
Deg said:PThey will milk their fans for all they are worth.
"They clearly arent under the same pressure ss MS and Nintendo. Notice how MS and Nintendo try to charge you wherever possible. They will milk their fans for all they are worth. Sony on the other hand are giving you a bargain. A well designed kit and software to boot."
way to miss the point, but at least you tried.Deg said:Then wait for a pricedrop. No one has a gun to your head to buy at launch.
Agent Icebeezy said:Is that why SanDisk Pro Duos are cheaper than Sony's and are much better than Sony's performance wise? Sony's isn't holier than thou. All companies are guilty of that. I'd rather take the hit of buying something from a company like a Logitech. You know it's going to cost, but you know you are getting great quality too. None of the 3 console makers offer that.
Error2k4 said:way to miss the point, but at least you tried.
DCharlie said:where the hell is all this coming from?
we don't know the price of the PS3, what configuration it's going to be in, how much the add-ons are, how much the software is, what price the online system is going to be, etc etc...
so how on earth can people be making this call on the PS3?
Not sure how it is in the US, but here in Japan for the PS2, we still get raped on things like the controllers, the (non backwards compatible) multitap, the HDD ($180 initially), the $25 memory cards...
Yes, IF sony allow us to use our own drives, if they drop the high pricing of perhipherals, if they blah blah blah blah blah....
No one knows whether they are getting a bargain or not yet, so lets just hold fire huh?
Error2k4 said:way to miss the point, but at least you tried.
Speevy said:Nintendo may do dumb stuff like connectivity from time to time, but buying the same amount of games and accessories is cheaper on the Gamecube than the other console. Cheaper memory cards, cheaper controllers, cheaper console. No DVD player so it loses many points there, but 1/10000000000 as likely to have to replace. Shame about the library.
yeah they are not trying to market video game systems, then how do they intend to sell these things? Xbox live? PS3 Blue Ray drive? casuals don't even what the hell Blue Ray is yet. games are what will sell these consoles.Onix said:Actually, I think you're missing the point.
MS and Sony aren't trying to market video game systems. That is just part of their consoles' functionality.
You may not like the direction they are going, but you're denying reality if you pretend it isn't happening.
