Nah, it's the opposite. Soros might be progressive, but he's first and foremost a capitalist, driven mostly by material self-interest. Getting "a man in the White House" isn't some scheme to undermine conservatism, but instead find a way to benefit from this crazy new government.
Soros invested huge amounts of money in 1990s Russia, helping ensure the eradication of any vestiges of socialism. Like any good investor, he identifies periods of uncertainty as opportunities to grab power. Nazi dorks love to single-out Soros as some kind of evil manipulator, but there are hundreds of Wall Street types lobbying for power in various administrations. Soros is only unusual because he spends a small fraction of his wealth on progressive causes that terrify right-wingers.

At some point this battle between the unrealism of no "globalists" alt-right demand and the realities of money politics has to come to a head through Bannon.

With Trump cutting the corporate tax rate to 15% from 39.6% you could certainly make a much bigger dent in that 1 billion loan repayment schedule with all that extra cash floating around.
