Anybody watch it besides me? I did, because it was brilliant, almost maverick filmmaking at the time. Spielberg burned through other people's money like Snoop through blunts. Actors fucking HATED each other on the set. Seasickness was rampant on the set. The shark refused to work 95% of the time.

And YET, it basically became the first summer blockbuster. I would appreciate a movie about the making of this movie almost as much at this point. Legendary. Happy 50th!

An all time great movie.
It was before my time but I remember the hype as a kid, and it being one of the only horror/thriller films you could watch with the family.(ok maybe not young children under 10)

Such a shame the sequels tarnished it's legacy imo.
It was probably one of the first movies to have direct sequels in that way.
But just imagine if it had been a standalone film..

''Did you ever hear of a Hamlet 3 or Midsummer Nights 4?''

For those interested, it was converted to Real 3D a few years ago, and it will be returning to the theaters over Labor Day weekend (also in 2D on IMAX). Since I doubt a 3D Blu disc will ever be released, I'm going to try and check it out.

2D on IMAX could be dope.

I'm not sure if it's the same for other digital retailers, but Jaws @ 50 was recently added as an extra on the Apple version of Jaws.

As much as I prefer physical, it is kind of cool when a random movie automatically gets some AV upgrades or a new extra years after you originally purchased it.

Absolute, total masterpiece. The fact that it turned out as well as it did despite the hellish shoot is a testament to Spielberg's awesome talent. The impeccable cast and John Williams didn't hurt either.
