So bizarre that it's brown lol Like you can do realistic and green / blue lol

This'll probably instantly get re-shaded on PC but still so weird.

I'm curious about this Remaster but i feel bad for Skyblivion if this one will be good, actually.
I have the feeling that the Remake will have the nicer graphics and optical polish, but Skyblivion will likely be crafted with more love for detail in many aspects.

I will play both, and both will be great in their own way i presume.

Woke up this morning and checked Reddit and NeoGAF to see if anything new had been discovered overnight. I've haven't been this hyped for a game in a long time. And it's a remake of 20 year old Bethesda RPG. Fucking insane.

Listening to the OST today at work. Absolutely cannot wait for this.

If it's remade with better visuals (of course), gameplay tweaks, some content tweaks too maybe I'll give it a shot. Played Oblivion and Skyrim a ton and beat both games. Not sure I'll replay Oblivion again. Who knows. I'll see what adjustments there are.

Oof, 20 years. Time is just accelerating.

Word about town is they've changed a bit, and yesterdays leak confirms prior leaks:
  • HUD has been improved
    • More "modern"
    • Sneak icon in particular has been improved
  • Melee Combat has been improved
    • Blocking and Hit reactions specifically stepped up
    • "Souls-like" was thrown around regarding the blocking
  • Archery has been improved
    • Better physics and visceral animations
    • Greater sense of impact
  • Stamina has been tweaked to be less annoying
  • Visuals have been overhauled entirely
    • Re-built from the ground up to current generation standards
    • Yesterday's leaks were from the asset house that has produced everything. Those are real images of the game.
I've seen a few more unconfirmed snippets, but the above was leaked previously and the specifics were confirmed in yesterday's leak. If I can find some kind of confirmation that the level scaling issues have been addressed then this would be basically perfect to me.

Nah, pass. It just looks like a texture mod…This needs a proper gameplay trailer, if the combat is the same ass az the original, if the audio is that same horrendous VA then this by all rights should be dead in the water…Oblivion was great at the time but it hasnt aged well at all, so this NEEDS to have genuine remade systems not just a fresh coat of paint like it looks to be.

I really don't know how I would feel about Oblivion without it's jank VO. I guess we're probably about to see.. would they really just port the same VO? I'm always shocked to find people really seem to hate everything I like about Oblivion :messenger_grinning_sweat: .

Ahem, if I may say something about this

TODD, I'VE BEEN READING LEAKS ABOUT THIS FOR MONTHS NOW, RELEASE THE DAMN GAME ALREADY YOU BASTARD

Apologies, I'm done, I had to let it out

KCD will never been as beloved as Oblivion or Elder Scrolls in general...
This

KCD 1 and 2 are insects compared to Elder Scrolls, it's not even close. Elder Scrolls got some of the deepest and most interesting lore out there. Plenty of games got good stories but having a big interesting lore is much harder. Elder Scroll is the biggest and best fantasy game now with Witcher 3 being second at 50 million copies. Skyrim not only sold over 60 million copies years ago. Both of them are within the top 10 most sold games of all times. Witcher 3 actually had some help cause everyone who bought a gtx 900 series card which a lot of people did got Witchers 3 for free and that added to the count too. But Skyrim earned all the 60 mil copies fairly through sweat, blood, and tears since it wasn't bundled with anything.

While both Witcher 3 and Skyrim are among the most popular fantasy games of all times and both were masterpieces. But Skyrim lasted way longer because Skyrim easily outlasted Witcher 3 due to the deeper lore, replay value, more activities, and mods which is why Skyrim had so much more threads and activity in gamefaqs, reddit etc compared to Witcher 3 and also much more active players compared to it today. Skyrim/SE's interest is so great that there are over 9 BILLION MOD downloads for it on Nexus alone not even counting mods elsewhere making it easily by far the most modded game in history by a huge margin. Fallout 4 the second most modded game in history only got 1.8 billion dollars, a huge gap between it for 2nd place.

A Elder Scrolls VI would be extremely huge second only to GTA VI in popularity and easily the highest selling as well as best fantasy game of all times with possibly only Witcher 4 coming close to it. But history repeats itself cause Elder Scrolls VI would once again outlast Witcher 4 just like how Skyrim did to Witcher 3 with way more replay valve, deeper lore, mods etc.

I'm curious about this Remaster but i feel bad for Skyblivion if this one will be good, actually.
Depends on if Oblivion Remake has good modding support or not. If it does than I can see it taking some of the interest from Skyblivion but if not than Skyblivion would still be favored by a lot more people due to modding support. Even if this game turned out to be good and also has good modding support than Skyblivion should still be able to hold it's own because it's using the Skyrim engine which are very mature and flexible with mods already. And there might be certain things Skybivion does better due to them putting more care into certain features. I'll definitely be trying out both as everyone should since both would probably have certain things that are better than the other. And I'm curious to see how they'll do things differently. It's a win win for us either way.

So it looks like modded skyrim :)

did they hired the team behind https://skyblivion.com/ or what?
I have been keeping up with both Skywind and Skyblivion and have been watching all their new videos whenever they come up. The style isn't similar at all besides both being fantasy settings. The art/graphic style in Skyobivion especially are a lot more vibrant and bloom like compared to this Obliviion remake at least from the screenshots so far.

It's most likely going to have brand new gameplay since two posters already posted some gameplay changes and the game looks different enough that it'll make sense to be different in other things too like music. Doubt they'll just do it the exact same as og Oblivion, I'll say even voices are going to be replaced. Skyobvion are using the og voices and with Skyrim's gameplay but modified for improvement so even that won't have the same gameplay as the OG.

Skywind are also improving, adding, and changing certain other things to make it better than the OG while being as faithful as possible. Hopefully Oblivion remake does the same so we'll get two top tier remakes.

It's crazy how some people underestimate the massive popularity of The Elder Scrolls brand. I think they're not ready for how big TES6 will obviously be. Right now, there is more than 20K people playing Skyrim Special Edition JUST ON STEAM! A 14 years old, single player only game!

But please, don't fuck this up Bethesda.

Yep, and sometimes it reaches over 30k ccu too on Steam. A lot also went to GOG ever since they announced Skyrim there.

Elder Scrolls games got the closest thing to having a living breathing world with immersive A.I. In Skyirm I dismissed a follower from somewhere in the wilderness way out of the city. I did some adventurer and exploring and totally forgot about that follower that I dismissed. Later when I'm traveling, I actually ran into her again walking towards the city a great distance away. Some quest that makes certain npc travel will actually make them travel for real not just disappear and spawning there but they'll actually walk all the way across the way even fighting stuff along the way if required like the peace treaty quest when different npcs have to travel to high hrotgar all the way up the mountain. NPCs doing their own thing like traveling around towns, villages, between cities all in real. They add massive immersion and makes the world feel alive. Bethesda game also got their advance navamesh for base NPCs as well as modded one so each NPC will learn how to get through different terrains/roads/etc without being stuck.

While Starfield is crap and loses most of the advance radiant A.I that the pervious Fallout and Elder Scrolls got. I'm still not worried about Elder Scrolls at all. Starfield had plain, bland, and boring lore and a boring setting and it's not handcraft but rather randomly generated so they didn't do what Bethesda usually does best at and that is radiant A.I, handcrafted content, and also Elder Scrolls and Fallout. With Elder Scrolls VI, they'll be doing handcraft content, and radiant A.I and will have the immersion and lore just like the other Elder Scroll games. So not worried about ESVI at all and can see it being extremely huge in popularity/sales.

Still haven't seen any other game that does the immersion, world, story, and modding support all combined anywhere as well as the single player Elder Scrolls and Fallout games making them easily some of the best series of all times and easily the two best series of all times for me.

So hyped for this, I need another good RPG to get sucked into again. Some of my fondest memories on the 360 were pulling all-nighters playing Oblivion.

Yeah, but the reality is people are looking to fill that gap because Elder Scrolls has gone silent for over a decade. Skyrim is almost 15 years old. Before Skyrim, we were getting Elder Scrolls titles every 5 years or so. KCD is a great Elder Scrolls "style" game, though not in the same vein exactly, spiritually similar in terms of design. This is what really attracted me to KCD. Is KCD as big as Elder Scrolls? No, I don't know if anyone is arguing that, but I wouldn't. But games are actually coming out. Even still, not sure why it's reason to attack KCD - quality game and those kinds of games should be encouraged rather than attacked - very few games attempt to even remotely resemble what Elder Scrolls accomplishes. Most have "similar properties" but miss the feel entirely.

Elder Scrolls VI will be huge, even if they continue to streamline the fuck out of it and further strip what makes it special to players like me - but it's still tough to grapple with the fact that it could be up to 20 years after Skrim before the followup releases. Perhaps sooner than that, sure, but closer to 20 than 15 at this rate. That's also discouraging because teams change over time, acquisitions are made (owned by Microsoft now), company culture changes.. it could still be wildly successful, but it could also become something else completely.

After Fallout 76 and Starfield, I was always unbelievably hyped for bethesda releases, but now i find i'm not at all anymore. If it gets good feedback, I will probably bite though. I do hope it's a true remake and that it's not just ue5 slapped over the original game.

fixed4me.

But seriously, you guys from the 360 generation are really on a nostalgia ride.

The scope of Oblivion was incredible at the time, after all it was the Crysis of PC gaming for a while, but everything else was done much better done in Morrowind or Skyrim. And thats for a modded version on a beefy PC, not even putting the real weakness of the game on the table (combat, the entire gameplay loop of the portals, the presentation, the ridiculous autolevelling)

Lets hope that they at least address the weak points.

I wouldn't say I'm attacking it like for example I like games like Ratchet and Clank, Stellar Blade, FFVII Rebirth etc etc but I'll say the same thing if someone were to compare them to Elder Scrolls. They're insects next to Elder Scrolls and GTA and ain't even close. That's just to show how much smaller they are compared to the latter not that I find them garbage games. I don't have any problem with KCD just like I don't have problems with most games, it's just most games don't even come close to Elder Scrolls.

I hear ya, I wish Oblivion, Skyrim, and whatever the next Elder Scroll would be as unique and interesting as Morrowind too in the lore and setting etc. Maybe Daggerfall too although I haven't beaten that just tried the Unity version a few years ago and gave up, would have to go back to it someday especially now with more mods. But Daggerfall from what I seen is also pretty interesting in the lore and style, reminds me a lot of those 80s sword and sorcerer movies that I really like from the way their themes and style are.

I personally have high hopes for Elder Scrolls VI as I can't see myself not liking it. The only way I can see them messing up is if they don't make a creation kit for it or if they go with the random generated crap again which I'm almost certain they won't do since the generated stuff is for Starfield with their one thousand or whatever boring ass world while ESVI should be all handcrafted. And the creation kit is a iconic tool for all single player Fallout and Elder Scroll game since Morrowind so can't see them not including it either. I could also understand if you or others are cautious about it because of Starfield or changes to the company etc. Let's hope Elder Scrolls VI would end up being amazing.

They really need to focus on the basics for ES6

Starfield has too much focus on boring systems that don't matter along with cookie cutter generic environments mixed with really basic and uninteresting quest design

Get rid of the bloat, focus on the world and story design, with great quests, and an improvement to the combat.

I'm interested to see what this "souls like" combat is, but they need to have competent gameplay first mechanics in ES6

Dont get me wrong, Oblivion has its charms, but it is dated and a product of its time. A full priced re-release which amounts to nothing but texture pack and rebalance to combat that mods did for free and better is not something that deserves success or acceptance. Its gonna totally depend on how much has really gone into this 'remake'

I disagree.
What's going to feel dated is the creation engine and hopefully this game puts the final bullet in it.

Oblivion sucked even at its' time.

Ehhh not really, it was a huge step down from Morrowind but its quests were still vastly superior to Skyrim and that game is apparently one of the best games ever smh

Skyrim is just the the evolution of the dumbed down systems that Oblivion introduced.

Maybe will check this out at some point but hard for me to settle for this slop when I've just gone through the true real deal, KCD2. That's the epic fantasy game where you live history.

I need a pallet cleanser after that and not sure I can handle a large medieval style world again for a while.

Hope this turns out well though and they kill all enemy level scaling.
