If CBOAT ever spills publicly what s/he shared via PM regarding a myriad of other technical issues going on right now...

I'm going right back in that shelter and welding it shut.

This should be horrifying for anyone that planned to get the system.
Since day one it's been a mess, but it's just gotten worse every day.

I'm interested to see the games that are achieving 1080p like NBA 2k14, Madden Fifa etc.

Will they be identical to the PS4 version, or will they have to cut corners in the graphics, effects, frame rate to get that resolution?

Oh shit.

I'm getting a PS4 and it is pretty funny to see this, but the casual player isn't going to notice a difference or give a shit. That said, the casual player is still probably going to get a PS4 for other reasons.

Looks like all my third party purchases will be on Sony's console. Now it's up to MS to out put out some amazing first party exclusives.

They'll notice it if the console's fundamentally broken at launch, due to a bad OS.

That's the much bigger potential cboat revelation

Honestly, I don't see the problem. No one can see the difference between 720p and 1080p - We're talking about a minuscule difference in pixels. It's obvious what Microsoft were trying to do and they achieved it; create a gaming machine that is extremely versatile with the right performance for the market. The Playstation 4 is just expensive and decadent, like a giant phallus symbol just reaching into the heavens. Barely half of that 8GB GDDR5 is even available to the developers -- All show, no go!

I honestly can't believe the fuss being kicked up about this. Microsoft still have amazing technologies like Kinect and stuff. Xbox is a great brand these days and no one really cares about Sony anymore so no matter who has the bigger numbers, Xbox will be the victor.

.

I think this is wrong for a few reasons.

1. There was those tweets from at least two journos - the Polygon individual being one of them - that specifically said the reason(s) for the embargo was not related to hardware differences.

2. The entire idea of having an embargo against the resolution of these games seems a bit odd. It would have to be based on the assumption that such a revelation would have a significant impact on pre-orders. I'm not convinced that resolution differences and even frame rate is a factor in the eyes of the mass public, certainly not a factor equal to that of the general impression of how good a game looks. Unless these multiplatform games will have a night and day difference to the point that anyone passing a kiosk will be able to recognise, then this discussion - outside the hardcore crowd - is completely irrelevant.

What would certainly have an impact, however, would be the revelation that Microsoft embargoed the reviews because they themselves acknowledged perceived hardware differences as not only factual, but significant enough to warrant an embargo. What kind of statement would that send to Xbox fans present and future? A more damning one than launch titles being 720p, that's for sure.

Or press cant review the games because they can't actually play them as their consoles haven't been patched to allow offline play yet. Which sounds more plausible to you?

As a hardcore Xbox fan over the years, this shitstorm of a launch is just hard to watch.

Borderline unbearable...

Can't believe Microsoft has dropped the ball this epically. The Kinect has this company completely mindfucked...

It really sucks to see genuine fans who have supported the brand get the brunt of all this, the suits dont care even if the thing flopped harder than the Wii U. They can sell the division and not give a shit.

I hope you wait til they iron out this, and buy it maybe a few months later.

I'm curious how many people would still get the X1 even if this is true. Multi plats in 720p would sting but with a year of experience you'd have to think developers would start cranking out more 1080p games. Add to that Microsoft arguably has the best content ecosystem and multiplayer service among consoles. If they could price it competitively at $399 I know I would be more open to overlooking the graphical hit.

Oh hey guys what's going on he-

Bish going back in the shelter

...I'll go back to lurking.

Also OH MY GOD MADNESS

Wonder what the issue is when a game as stunning as NBA 2k14 can be 1080p but something like Ghosts struggles.

Maybe something to do with how it renders. I think deferred rendering means a bigger framebuffer? Or something? I don't know. TECH GOBBLEDEGOOK HERE some1 get the fellows

If it is indeed a terrible OS we are talking about, will it be worse than the Wii U OS at launch? That was bad, if xbone is worse...god help us.

PM that shit to blame space and tell him to make a thread.

They don't literally have a month now. If anything, they have a few weeks (if at all) as they have to start mass producing the consoles and shipping them from the manufacturers to retailers etc etc. and that takes time.

Its in production and has been for a while. All they can do now is cobble together a patch..
and pray

he's not keen on the games for it and dislikes KZ. he did enjoy lbp and last of us but is much more keen on the xb.

So? It's a new generation. New controllers and loads of differences all around.

if he is a massive CoD fan I'd assume he'd be happy to play it in FullHD on a system that actually caters to gamers right? He's not keen on the games on it? Wut? Has he seen Infamous?

LOL Sethos. Although, if you were a junior member with an account 4-6 months old I'd totally believe you :P

Now now. Jeff Gertsmann has something to say for all us console warriors making fun of the Xbone!

Jeff Gertsmann said:
If it were purely an objective matter then there wouldn’t be anything to argue about. The PlayStation 4 is a more powerful console. The specs seem to say that fairly clearly and I’ve talked to enough developers that have backed that up after spending time with both. But many of them have also said that the way this will translate into shipping products will be pretty insignificant.

So at some point people are arguing if a resolution difference is significant or not. Up-close on a PC monitor there’s no contest, it’s a big deal. At distance on a TV? Probably less so. They’re also assuming that’s the only actual difference between two versions of a given game, of course.

So yeah, it’s fun to drive by and laugh at the unreleased console because it “can’t handle” higher resolutions, I guess. But I already have enough shit going on in my life, adding a bunch of speculative forum drama to the mix just isn’t on my list. If the games come out and look markedly different to the naked eye due to these reasons, then we can start cracking a billion jokes and funning it up, OK? Until then it’s just people sort of shouting numbers back and forth at each other as if that’s the only thing that matters.

I kinda agree with him but am also having way too much fun. Sad when I consider he's more mature than me haha!

so, confirmed that MS rushed the xbone because PS4 announcement? Because for them to have so many problems...

I think you're looking for some hardware disaster along the lines of RROD, but I think the hints about unpublicized issues have to do with the state of the development environment, OS/software etc. (AFAIK).

There is a lot of information about the hardware choices that were made in the design of the Xbox, so with statements like 'execs interfered with hardware choices' - well I think the information on the end result of that is pretty public, not something we can expect a new megaton on. At least that's my take.

Not necessarily "looking" for a hardware disaster - just a question considering there's already rumors of OS issues between proelite's posts and the twitter error codes.

I suppose rather than "is it safe," I should've asked "is it worthwhile," with the point being to highlight whether or not early adopters are going to have to deal with a bunch of headaches that might get in the way of enjoying the system that just don't make the early investment worth it. Personally speaking, I'd be pretty damn wary of putting down half a grand on something if there's just gonna be a bunch of issues like such, and I'd imagine there are plenty of folks on these forums who, despite being fans of the Xbox brand, might be feeling just a little wary with these rumors floating around without firm confirmation/denial by this point.
