Jeremy Conrad (former IGN): BF4 and CoD: Ghosts are 720p on Xbone

Maybe something to do with how it renders. I think deferred rendering means a bigger framebuffer? Or something? I don't know. TECH GOBBLEDEGOOK HERE some1 get the fellows

Basically, yeah, depends on the pipeline and what its demands are. eSRAM will be more or less difficult to work with depending on those demands.

Some games are going to need more buffers.

Some might need more input bandwidth, which might squeeze eSRAM more if you have to start caching reads in eSRAM.

Some games might have more complicated render passes to juggle within eSRAM.

Not every game has the same requirements.

He's quite the troll too lol:

I'm dying! I got to follow this dude!

I just hope that Sony stays on the edge despite all the fuck ups from microsoft for the coming gen..

having that said, this is one of the most enjoyable threads of the last weeks.
If we only could get some Kaz gif threads again

So... what if BF4 runs at 900p with better AA on PS4?

I seriously doubt it's going to be hardware problem as it looks far more like a OS/Live issue but I think people should get extended warranties on any XB1's they buy just to be safe

Why is Killer Instinct 720p?

The difference is that the sports games dont have particle effects and such like ki or bf4 or cod do so maybe its something to do with the integration between the cpu and gpu and the ram and esRAM cannot handle the load to deliver the output desired as a result ? CBOAT? Famousmortimer? Bishoptl ? I'm right aren't I?

Best start of generation ever?

Best start of generation ever
This is going to have big negative consequences for the whole industry... As Nintendo and MS are failing hard, Sony can't keep the industry healthy alone.

Lots of bad things are going to happen for everybody involved. But that's just great news, right?

Yes, differed techniques are basically two-pass renderers, meaning that they iterate two times over the relevant data structures of the scene. The first pass only gathers information which is then used during the second pass to actually render the scene. That information has to be stored somewhere (g-buffer in eSRAM). If you don't employ deferred techniques, you don't need that extra memory space, are consequently less limited by the eSRAM's size and can go for higher resolution render targets.

Now now. Jeff Gertsmann has something to say for all us console warriors making fun of the Xbone!

I kinda agree with him but am also having way too much fun. Sad when I consider he's more mature than me haha!
I don't agree with him. I play about 8 ft from my 42in 1080p Plasma TV. I'll notice the difference. Even if I didn't though, it wouldn't matter. The fact that there is a difference, in favor of the cheaper PS4 should make most second guess if that Kinect is worth it.

I am a little bit sad. I'm going PS4 right now, but have always been an Xbox fan. I was hoping for a decent fight and MS to throw down the gauntlet. Instead it's just blow after blow.

Sorry Xbox, hope it gets better for you. This is what happens when you make stupid choices though.

I wouldn't worry that game wise. Look at the PS1/PS2 to see what happened when Sony dominated in sales.

What if he is talking about entertainment value? Because it is.

What a PR disaster. We'll see how Microsoft do in the sales charts (who knows), but they never cease to make me laugh with their screw-ups. Their mistakes are sad to see, but I had the PS4 on my radar anyways and probably always will. CBOAT's saga is also hilarious, I doubt we'll see Albert or Major Nelson around here for a while.

Maybe if we make a sacrificial offering CBOAT will elaborate.

CBOAT hear me, I come with offerings of salted pork, salt crackers, and salt water.

I know this is impossible but what if they can't get the day 1 patch ready to address the DRM? I know, I know it's impossible for this to happen but then again this is Microsoft. Oh man, imagine if.......lol

UGH! Why can't we just get official word on both BF4 and CoD Ghosts running at 1080p on PS4 and 720p on XBO?!

MAKE US WHOLE REVIEWERS.

Also, once the embargo lifts, it'll be interesting to see where editors fall. Then we'll really know which side of the fence each and every "journalist" is on.

Except for Polygon. We already know who they're aligned with.

CBOAT has disappeared. Bish and him teased the hell out of us. Now we're glued to the thread. CBOAT PLEASE. Set us all free with your #Truthfacts!

We need a leak for cboat's leaks. Someone tell us the contents of his PM's, it's driving me crazy!

I really hope nothing too bad happens to Xbone launch units, I still get nightmares about the RROD fiasco and I wouldn't want to wish that on anyone..

I think this is wrong for a few reasons.

1. There was those tweets from at least two journos - the Polygon individual being one of them - that specifically said the reason(s) for the embargo was not related to hardware differences.

2. The entire idea of having an embargo against the resolution of these games seems a bit odd. It would have to be based on the assumption that such a revelation would have a significant impact on pre-orders. I'm not convinced that resolution differences and even frame rate is a factor in the eyes of the mass public, certainly not a factor equal to that of the general impression of how good a game looks. Unless these multiplatform games will have a night and day difference to the point that anyone passing a kiosk will be able to recognise, then this discussion - outside the hardcore crowd - is completely irrelevant.

What would certainly have an impact, however, would be the revelation that Microsoft embargoed the reviews because they themselves acknowledged perceived hardware differences as not only factual, but significant enough to warrant an embargo. What kind of statement would that send to Xbox fans present and future? A more damning one than launch titles being 720p, that's for sure.

Or press cant review the games because they can't actually play them as their consoles haven't been patched to allow offline play yet. Which sounds more plausible to you?

So you're saying you still believe it's running at a resolution greater than 720p?
