This is good news for gamers, bad news for Microsoft, but good news for us. I was hoping the X1 would at least pull 900p on BF4 and was confident that it would be 1080p for cod, but there goes my confidence

I haven't been keeping up with these threads the past few days. Is BF4 confirmed to be running at 1080p on the PS4 ? Or, at least "rumored" to be running at 1080p ? Also, I hear AC will also be 720p on the X1, is that true ?

People have to remember that mods and CBoaT can't really give out too much info. It could cause tons of problems for everyone.

A lockup here and there isn't the end of the world. But if they know that the Xbone is prone to major failures (like RROD or YLOD), they should talk.

THIS. Sony's financial problems made people believe they could not afford to make the PS4 competitive hardware-wise to whatever MS would release. I definitely remember that that sentiment was pervasive prior to 2013.

People just forget that bad financial situation is different from no money for R&D... there are companies that leave years in financial situations before bankrupt... even so they release more and more new products like any other company.

A good and recent example...

AMD was in a bad financial situation for years... this last quarter was the first to show profit after a good time (even so due consoles because all sales are down).

That stopped AMD to research and launch the 290X? Or new CPUs?

Financial situations is not related to bad/wrong products... you can even create a really great product during bad financial situation or a really bad product during a good financial situation.

Yeah I can see this happening as well. They could have simply mandated that no reviews should be out until 10 days before launch. That would have nothing to do with resolution. Could just be an arbitrary mandate.

It is eerily similar to what Tom Kalinske did w/ Sega shortly after the Saturn came out, but it's still too early to say if this is Saturn 2.0...

From a career standpoint, something like a big player in a company moving to another company is a deal that happens over MONTHS.. not overnight. The fact that he was looking months prior means he knew what was going to happen possibly due to some internal struggles. He seems to know what he's doing... and I'm sure he was fighting the good fight on the inside. If he fully expected Xbone to be a big huge success he would have wanted to stay on with Microsoft to ride out that wave and take the credit... as far as resumes go that would have made him worth so much more in the future.

What? he's right. On a technical level windows 8 is much better than 7. The problem with windows 8 is its unintuitive metro UI when using it with a keyboard and mouse.

its not just the metro ui. Its how all the metro ui apps work.. try to close one down... drag from top to bottom.. Also the 'start button' missing on the desktop is not cool. I used to just click on the windows logo on my keyboard and type a search. now i have to go in the corner, move mouse down and click search. I'm sure theres a shortcut for it but why change what worked? Anyway... completely derailing.. sorry about that. will not comment further on this. The OS by itself is not the a big problem, its the big difference between 7 and 8 that is the problem. Most people dont have time or the will to learn a new os design and features

here's my 2 cents.

CBOAT is saying that MS is having technical problems with their system, more worrying and potentially damaging than CoD and BF4 being 720p.

Some people are speculating its problems with the OS. And we know that the X1 already allocates 3GB of their GPU/ram for the OS.

What if they are needing more than that 3GB for the OS, and that's why games have less to work with, hence 720p?

this would mean less hardware for the software to work with, for the entire generation.

Was that every truly confirmed? If so, got a link?

The price/performance situation Xbone sees itself in is due to the combination of poor hardware design decisions and the business decision to seek higher margins versus Sony.

Sadly, that's not the case at all. There's NDAs and contracts and such that people sign to not talk about this stuff.

Not necessarily. A contract becomes invalid when it asks you do something unreasonable (or illegal) in the eyes of the law. If there was information out there that said the XB1 will basically be a useless brick come launch and will cause material harm to consumers, you'd be fine with making that information public. There are a lot of 'journalists' in the industry right now that aren't under NDA that have important information. They just refuse to share it out of fear they will be blacklisted.

The industry has never had a 'fuck this' moment as a whole, where everyone just decided to do the right thing. Now is a good opportunity.

Here we can even cancel the orders after receive the product... you needs just to sent the product without open back and after that the company will refund you.

Maybe the decision to hold Xbox reviews until PS4 nearly launches is meant to keep as many people in limbo and from switching to PS4 as possible initially. With the PS4 sold out by the time they can make a decision, the Xbox One will be there waiting unsold with open arms.

MS probably has a team of lawyers ready to go with a lawsuit if anything that big was leaked or someone broke NDA. It would make the Adam Orth shit storm look like a drop in the bucket.
