Is he referring to Gies, then??

This guy is just going on a hate rampage. The news hit him pretty bad, like timedog.

I think it's interesting that CBOAT didn't confirm this rumour but instead talked about there being other [greater] issues at hand. I do not believe this embargo has anything to do with resolution differences. Likes Giles points out, if Microsoft wanted to hide this, wouldn't the embargo be longer rather than it ending10 days before the console launches?

So what is it, then? DRM is here to stay and the authentication servers don't go up until the 12th?

A couple have said 1080p, I noted this as it wasn't really expected.

Anyhow, well see.

Didn't someone post box art, or a PSN description or something that said it was native 1080p?

Sure I saw that recently, unless its gone gold though (would assume so) you can't count your chickens.

This conrad dude sounds like a console warring forum troll. He might be right, but his delivery method is beyond unprofessional.

I think cboat/bish/whoever should spill the beans on these issues really. There's a lot of people going to drop a lot of money on this console and if MS are hiding stuff, we should be told lol

I'm sure if there are significant issues Microsoft will offer a free replacement like with the red ring of death. Or at least...I would hope so.

I think it's because the OS is crashing, and they are rushing to fix it before reviews go out.

If I had to guess what might constitute technical issues, that would be my vote - that and some kind of DRM issue. It will be interesting to find out, I'm loving this launch season.

I am worried about my fellow gaffers but this issue might be something cboat can't reveal, it might make his identity obvious to Microsoft who could then fire him.

Conrad burning a lot of bridges and potential partners in the future. Maybe the man don't give a fuck.

Or maybe he got hacked.

Well think about it, why does he need these 'potential partners' by withholding information and playing nicely with everyone, if people are taking notice when he's not doing those things?
Sometimes a person can benefit more when they're burning bridges.

Just as long as there are no RROD kind of issues then it's not really a huge concern because that would be a disaster. I think that there just may be a lot of technical and infrastructure issues that could harm the good experience that Live and the OS is known to deliver.

if i was to guess what this "more bad news" is, i would think its hardware based issues tbh. from my limited experience with xbox one hardware, when i played DR3 and KI (great games btw) the console was not under a glass case and i touched the console and it was running *very* hot. I mean, worryingly hot. as i said in another thread, not "burn your hand" hot but definitely "leave your hand on it for more than 10 seconds and it will probably start hurting" hot.

This was a few weeks back so i dont know if theyve looked into it, or if it was even an issue. but it was certainly worrying.

Why do keep defending the Xbox 720 so much?

Yes, I'm just all over the place defending the Xbox One. You caught me, I'm a paid corporate shill with all of two posts today on the topic of the Xbox One.

Why are you so concerned with my posts?

Sorry if I don't want to just take manabyte's word for it.

Hell, even if I didn't know of him previously, I wouldn't really listen to the guy that does this:

Doesn't quite carry himself well.

Again, not really a fair thing to request of someone. That's a real slippery slope, and that's a massive court battle. You want to pay their legal fees?

You vastly overestimate the enforceability of NDAs. They are essentially worthless across jurisdictions. But beyond that, you can only be held liable for damages if you say something that is false that leads to MS suffering direct material damage.

Thanks Gaf, pre-order cancelled. Looks like I'll take that $100 I put down for the x1 and get bf4 plus several indies. Those plus contrast and Knack will make for a great time!

As weird as it sounds, I'm actually relieved about fully committing to the ps4. Having an x1 preordered was so nerve wracking.

its not just the metro ui. Its how all the metro ui apps work.. try to close one down... drag from top to bottom.. Also the 'start button' missing on the desktop is not cool. I used to just click on the windows logo on my keyboard and type a search. now i have to go in the corner, move mouse down and click search. I'm sure theres a shortcut for it but why change what worked? Anyway... completely derailing.. sorry about that. will not comment further on this. The OS by itself is not the a big problem, its the big difference between 7 and 8 that is the problem. Most people dont have time or the will to learn a new os design and features

1. Apps go into a suspended state when closed, whats the problem? it works fairly well in windows 8 and it bodes well that it would work well in the XBO being as 3gb of ram is being reserved for this purpose.

2. windows 8.1 has a start button now and the behaviour that you say you used to do (win key and type to search) has always worked in exactly the same way even on windows 8

the UI is the issue in windows 8 it doesnt work so good with a kayboard and mouse and its obviously designed with a touch screen in mind. On a technical level windows 8 is completely sound.

So that's why the Future Shop kiosks have openings on the sides...

Will payments be processed, making it harder to cancel pre-orders? I dunno

I don't know why this is so hard for people to read. The three tweets in a row suggest that the reason for the embargo is totally banal and inconsequential in the grand scheme of things. His older ones suggest this too:
"The reasoning is far more stupid than platform differences, I assure you."

It begins :O

I'm sure nobody will read this, but was there a change in the corp structure or division autonomy between xbox/xbox 360 and the xbox one? I mean, for all the faults of the xbox/360 they seemed to at least have the core idea together.

I know people have posted about how they were blindsided by the PS4's announcement/tech leapfrog, but I'm curious about the business end of things, if that's even known at this point.

Aren't you contradicting the post I quoted?

I was saying that the silence and possible embargo from MS is a bright fucking beacon pointing to the fact that all the rumors have been true, and the XB1 is severely lacking when compared to the PS4.

Not really. I'm not disagreeing with you at all. Just saying that the embargo up to 10 days might be an arbitrary business decision. Why not 1, 5, or 15? 10 is an arbitrary number, right? It might have nothing to do specifically with resolution. I think mangochutney's post sort of explains what I was trying to say.

So what is it, then? DRM is here to stay and the authentication servers don't go up until the 12th?

They said it was for a "stupid" reason unrelated to this hardware debate, and something like authentication would be more plausible than this.

There are two separate issues here.

1. Are there more multiplatform games that will run at a lower resolution?
2. Is this embargo in any way related to the above?
