What could be the cause of such crashes? Overheating issues?
Shit coding. The poor engineering team probably spend the last couple of months removing the DRM they worked on for years. So they are obviously drastically behind schedule on finishing the most important thing - the actual OS and the features announced. So they are probably scrambling everything together and of course nothing works as usual.

Here's a video of BF4 running on an Xbox One yesterday at a tour event in England. The TVs being used were 720p.

It's amazing to me how little the higher-ups in the Xbox division know about what's going on at their own events. Yesterday it came as a complete surprise to Phil Spencer that Kinect Sports was completely playable at these events with an Xbox One controller.

Where are the pictures showing the difference of 720 900 and 1080p? Im clueless as to what I should be worried about.

What 2014 games are having trouble getting to the 1080/60 holy grail? If there are not many. I aint got no worries.

Apparently titanfall for one

That Motley Fool article makes really grim reading. And in an investment/business site at that...

That the Xbox One cannot run Call of Duty: Ghosts at 1080p is a worrying indication for the system's hardware performance and value proposition. If multiplatform games are available in 1080p on Sony's cheaper device while only 720p on the Xbox One, consumers will have less reason to buy Microsoft's system this time around.

As a multi-platform, cross-gen game, Activision's Call of Duty: Ghosts was created with current-gen hardware specifications in mind. Regardless of platform, the game will feature assets, lighting, and physics models that are largely unchanged. This means that the game should not be particularly taxing for Sony and Microsoft's new consoles.

The average consumer may not notice a substantial difference between 720p and 1080p images. That said, if the Xbox One has a dearth of 1080p games, the deficiency will make its way to the consumer conscience. In the mindshare battle with the PlayStation 4, this type of development could be very damaging to the more-expensive Xbox One.

The PlayStation 4's hardware advantages are becoming evident much earlier than many had anticipated. Microsoft officials had claimed that the Xbox One's "balancing" would allow it to make up for areas in which it may have seemed weak on paper. Now, it's looking like the system's hardware, particularly its ESRAM, is going to be an ongoing source of headaches for developers. For a company with such immense resources, Microsoft's Xbox One's performance leaves a lot to be desired.

Some tough bedtime reading for MS there, man...

I know that IW has a huge task this year. Without the help of Sledgehammer and Raven, pushing out a game for 6 platforms isn't easy. But yet, the engine is based off Quake 3...and that is old tech which should run fine. And by looking at the PC specs, IW needs some major optimization

What do you expect from Xbone GPU. It is 7790@850 Mhz. It is a 3 year old GPU. Every major engine has already used that GPU and we have seen consistent performance. There is no real game that can deliver 1080p on such a low powered GPU.

Are there any sub-1080p Ps4 games announced so far?

I don't know why the Ps4 version of BF4 would be 720p if the answer of my question would be no.

I'm going to laugh my ass off if BF4 on PS4 is also 720p.

And that's why, as long as the image is crisp and clean, most people will not care when the game is in motion.

While BF4 on PS4 may have a resolution greater than 720p, in due time, we will see a fall in resolution as other visual effects are pushed. Remember, it's a closed box with finite power on which games continually improve due to efficiency and innovation in coding. As such, compromise is the name of the game.

The PC version of CoD has way better textures than the next gen versions IIRC so its not an optimization thing.

Jesus, what a mess is MS at the moment. There are so many hints and confirmations floating around from trustworthy people both from and outside GAF, thats this is reaching undeniable levels.

Anyway, never heard of the ex-IGN guy before, but I admire anyone who is able to expose Gies and his terrible bias/agenda that he so devotedly tries to hide. Priceless.

Thanks, mate. I was also looking for a deep dive into that .gif. She picks up that table like it is nothing. Amazing.

I know right? that table usually would need like 2-4 people to lift. and she did it with while holding a handbag in one hand. haha

#beastmode

Someone did this? Who?

Both OS features development/management and dev-tools development/management...

Developers must be in serious troubles...
