"Jim Merrick gets bold on Revolution"

I've heard that "won't ever make the specs public" thing for awhile now. Are devs being asked to sign NDAs to prevent the Rev's specs from going public?

I wish someone at Nintendo would stand up and tell exactly when we can expect screens/videos.

I want to know if I should bother being hyped for them this year anymore, or if it's gonna be a long wait till E3.

Look at history: Each Nintendo Console does not go over 200 or 250.

In America, have any actually gone over $200?

I believe the NES and SNES both debuted at $199, and while the N64 was originally planned to release at $249, was cut to $199 just before launch. The Virtual Boy was expensive, but not over $200 ($150?).

IGN did an article about console launch prices after the 360's pricing was announced. According to them, Nintendo has always launched at $199. Meaning their hardware in effect drops in price each gen, when corrected for inflation. With all the talk about affordability and appealing to a more casual market, it seems reasonable that they'll again go for $199, again effectively launching cheaper than before. $249 at the highest, I'd say.

Someone vaguely mentioned something about packages...meaning maybe there will be a bare bones pack and a more expensive pack with a game and something extra...

$200
-Revolution Deck
-Stand
-Power Cable
-A/V Cable
-Sensor Bar
-Remote-Controller
-Analog Expansion
-2 AA Batteries
-Demo Disc

$300
-Revolution Deck
-Stand
-Power Cable
-A/V Cable
-Sensor Bar
-Remote-Controller
-Analog Expansion
-2 AA Batteries
-Retro Controller Shell
-USB DVD Adaptor
-Demo Disc
-Mario Game
-Mario DVD
-100 Nintendo-Points For Downloading Games

Peripherals (sold seperatly)
-Remote-Controller w/ Analog Expansion
the two will probably be sold together, with other exansions sold seperatly later on as they're introduced
-Retro Controller Shell
the only problem with this is that it'll either need a cord to plug into the GCN ports or be required to have the Remote-Controller in it to play wirelessly with tilt functions
-Rechargable Battery Pak w/ Recharge Cable
Much like X-BOX 360 where you have the option of normal batteries or officially branded rechargable one's...plus it's an extra money-maker of course
-Digital Progressive Screen (480p) A/V Cable
dunno...would this be considered an S-Video Cable?
-SVGA PC Monitor & Speakers A/V Cable
Iwata said something about this being available from the get-go
-512MB SD Cards
-USB DVD Adaptor
unknown whether it'd be a dongle using the Revolution's Remote-Controller or it's own remote control
-USB Ethernet Adaptor
hopefully the Nintendo WiFi Connection Dongle available for NDS will make this redundant, if not, for the people without WiFi
-100 Nintendo-Points Pre-Paid Card
I strongly believe this will be the way it's done (and Iwata has mentioned the pre-paid card before)...you either buy them dirrectly in stores or get points for buying certain games and/or registering them...this will avoid problems with people not wanting to use their credit-card over the Nintendo WiFi Connection to pay for downloadable games

Dream Peripherals
-BlueTooth Wireless Communication Headset w/ 3D Eyepeice
I'm allowed to dream dammit!!!
-Retro Arcade Stick Base
my own idea...basically an arcade base that you slide the Remote-Controller into the joystick slot...it could be made like an arcade top or an Atari lap joystick set-up
-Trackball Expansion
same function as the Analog Expasion, only with a trackball instead
-Touch Sensitive Click-Wheel Expansion
same as above only with an iPod-style dirrectional control instead
-Steering Wheel Shell
slide the Remote-Controller in and it's basically self explanitory
-Wireless LAN Multi-TV Kit
a crazy theory still around in my head about having the ability to turn your house into a wireless Nintendo LAN where you have one deck and one "kit" per TV screen, PC monitor or LCD screen for multiplayer...each kit would require a power source, A/V output, wireless signal receiver & a sensor bar for tracking Remote-Controller movement...the range and receiving resolution would be limited to the Revolution's WiFi range and 480p output...may just be more feasible to buy multiple Revolution decks and have them cummincate thru WiFi dirrectly instead
-Revolution Official LCD
turns Revolution into a mobile gaming system & portable DVD player...might have minor controls, memory functions to play downloadable games on it's own
-USB HDD
it'd be cool if they could do this, or just have a kit where you can turn your existing PC external HDD into a Revolution HDD
