I saw an advance screening this month and was disappointed. It's still a 7/10, but the first half of the movie is a mess. The second half is pretty great though.

The main villain kind of sucks, though. He has a neat henchman (the deaf chick), but he's pretty boring. The movie has an "empire strikes back" like cliffhanger.

Can't wait, but what they are doing with the trailers and quick looks for it is odd as fuck. That little clip of the trailer that they play before the trailer starts that is also a part of the trailer itself later on. Also really dosn't need "chapter". Just name it John Wick 2 even if you have plans for another. That new poster looks good too.

I thought story and writing were on point for an action movie. Good character moments, well-paced, some quality acting, a nice graphic novel-esque world; it worked really well.

My favorite part about the first John Wick was the weird hitman world they created and I'm glad that they have more of that in the sequel.

So hyped! I am really not a fan of the pop techno music they're adding in (a bit more classical would add to the business-oriented hitman world they created IMO), but the action sequences and dialogue more than makes up for it.

They do, but it sucks. Part of that messy first half. There is a pretty neat set piece in second half tho

When will action directors realize that slow mo destroys all sense of realism and completely diminishes the impact of screen violence.

It's one of the reasons The Raid was so damn amazing. no slow mo.

But that movie was received well critically and commercially. I'd say its success is good for them. They can get a lot more work because of it.
