In other DVD news today, SonyBMG has announced that the soundtrack CD for Star Wars: Episode III - Revenge of the Sith will street on 5/3. So why is this DVD news? Well, as it turns out, the CD will include a bonus DVD-Video disc that will feature a 70-minute presentation of some 16 newly-created music videos of composer John Williams' signature themes from all 6 Star Wars films (set to footage from the films) that takes viewers chronologically through the entire saga. Each will be introduced by actor Ian McDiarmid (Senator Palpatine) and will feature the music along with dialogue and sound effects excerpts in full Dolby Digital 5.1 surround. The package will also include a booklet with liner notes by George Lucas and a poster. Frankly, I'm as excited to hear this music as I am to see the film.
Bristow said:Good score - the best of the new trilogy for sure. Probably like Anakin's Betrayal track the most, but Anakin vs Obiwan is pretty sweet too.

maharg said:There is nothing on the new soundtrack that even comes *close* to Duel of the Fates, and the best song on it is a medley of old music.
darkiguana said:I listened to battle of heroes last night and it did not do much for me. Since I have not seen the movie I have no context for it. The same thing happened to me with Duel of the Fates. I heard it before I saw EP1 and it was ok, but nothing special. After I saw the movie however it became one of my favorite Star Wars tunes. I hope the same thing happens with Battle of Heroes.
Bristow said:Yep, that's the case for most movie scores for me. Very few can I hear and appreciate without first seeing the film.
IAmtheFMan said:Huh... I listened to DOTF also way before the actual soundtrack was released and while I thought it was very Williams-esque, it didn't really sound like Star Wars.
Phoenix said:Not sure what you mean by that. What does something "Star Wars" sound like?
Phoenix said:I heard Duel of the Fates long before I saw the movie and loved it immediately. There are a couple of tracks on the soundtrack that are pretty good - I don't need any particular context for them. Overall however, much of it just isn't memorable.

however ...
The 3 songs that pulled on the star wars heart strings were "Anakin's Betrayal", "Anakins Dark Deeds" and "Anakin vs. Obi-Wan"
"Anakin's Betrayal" just feels tragic ... you can feel something unsettling ... that about all I can say
"Anakin vs Obiwan" is easily my favorite ... it actually takes battle of heroes and puts it to awesome use. The best part of the track however it the how similar it is to the original trilogy. At time it switches from Battle of Heroes to full on Vader vs. Luke from ESB then to the Force theme then back around again with a frantic, epic battle feel. Its just very intense and very very Vader. No more half Vader theme nonsense like in the other prequels, the whole Vader theme is here and its here in force (no pun intended) ... oh my ...
"Anakin's Dark Deeds" ... it starts out dark and slow and seems almost exactly like the music that played in LOTR when someone was in a trance with the ring ... then it immediately picks up and flys out of control into a full fledged epic battle. Choir and everything ... then it settles into slow pace ... at this point ... I cant wait to see what part of the movie this is for because its so tragic and sad ... at times the slow pace almost reminded me of Sean Bean's death music from LOTR ... very epic ... but incredibly sad ... it must be that moment for Anakin ... or I dont know ... but i cant wait to find out
"Enter Lord Vader" is pretty good too ... has a very "oh shit!!! here he comes we're all going to die!!! RUN!" feel to it ... again the Vader tunes from ESB are used toward the end. Feels a lot like a march song ... as if Vader was marchin into someplace ...![]()
All of the music in the two trailers is not from Episode III.GaimeGuy said:Judging from the tone and the title of Anakin's Dark Deeds, it's probably when he goes on a rampage and kills a shitload of Jedi.
Btw, where's the music that played during the 2nd trailer? It's not on the OST, excluding the part that's cut out Enter Lord Vader (I think that's the song it's cut from), which plays after Palpatine says "Riiiiiiise" and Vader's operating platform is risen. The whole part of the trailer which plays afterwards has music not on the OST. Is it part of the extra 16th track that's rumored?
Dude, is that some sick joke?B'z-chan said:Fuck i'm wanting the soundtrack more than the damn movie. Is there something wrong with me? I would buy a DVD if John Williams was able to make it with footage from all of the movies in 5.1 that would kick so much ass.
Does John Williams even do any concerts anymore? I'd love to see him in my time before he goes. He's one of the best composers i've ever heard.

Williams' principal theme from the new score, entitled "Battle of the Heroes," will be featured in a music video created by Lucasfilm.
Nah, there's a part at the beginning of the 2nd trailer, as vader's platform "riiiiiises," which is directly out of Anakin vs. Obi-WanSaki said:All of the music in the two trailers is not from Episode III.
