Someone in the dev team really loves bloom lighting :lol

Having played the review code they sent out ages ago, before the financial crash & redevelopment, the game seemed destined to the "generic racer"-pile. I'd say the "unique-ish" graphics style at least makes it look more interesting. Now if they just fix the handling...

HOLY... F.. WHAAATT??!!

Sorry, but I think I just sprained my eyes.. What's with the excessive graphics look aka bloom lighting???..

I tend to agree: overall the game looks better, the previous build was way too generic. But now the bloom and motion blur effects are too exaggerated!

The NFS: Underground Drag Race blur was great, IMO. I'd like to see something similar implemented here.

I still think that overdoing the effects like this is actually a good idea for Juiced. For some reason it seems to suit the game's title pretty well, plus it DOES make it look different.

And after a few completely overblown examples like this, ADs probably realize how these effects can be used effectively but conservatively.

This game has gone under a really nice visual make over since THQ picked it up.

IGN said they've basically gone back and rebuilt alot of the game with the time they've had. Sounds like it could be a really good street racer.

My 3 wishes for the developers would be:

1) Consider the structure again. It was pain starting with the SLOW, ordinary compact sports cars. Perhaps at least give a chance to race as a "guest driver" with some of the faster ones in the beginning, while kitting out your own car in the low level races.

2) The handling model lacked clear identity - it wasn't exactly a simulation, but it wasn't arcade either. Emphasize either end of the spectrum, and maybe even overdo characteristics of different cars - like Metropolis Street Racing did IMO.

3) New intro & soundtrack.

Looks like you'll be getting hte soundtrack make over:

"I was surprised to see how much better the game looked and played today, as it was spruced up with bloom lighting, high detailed cars, better framerates and overall better sounds. Expect the soundtrack to be completely different from the original one as well."

damnit, yesterday I just told someone that this was canceled.

meh, they are better off believing that anyway.

Acclaim, the publisher was dead. Few months nobody knew what is going to happen with the game and now THQ is the publisher.

Yet The Red Star and 100 Bullets remain stuck in limbo to this very day, so sad.

The most recent IGN preview didn't seem to mention the crew racing aspect at all... has that been pullled out? The game looks good if atypical of street racers in the most recent IGN movie clips... it definitely looks "clean"...

TOTAL SHIT. The intro music alone was the most stupid thing I've heard this gen, I kid you not. I think Acclaim played a major role on this BTW (you know, they oozed style)

Fortunatelly they have tweaked the game a lot and now it looks like some serious competition for other street racers. Bloom lightning haters like me may like to know that it does not look that agressive when playing.

Wait this was the intro?

Someone posted it awhile back but I thought it was one of UKR's jokes since it was on their site.

Thats the one. God, aren't we better offw without acclaim?

WTF with all this bloom lightning? Is it supposed to look any good? It looks like total shit imo. Aren't those pics retouched "to look cool" or something? bleh...

It looks a little over the top here, but it probably looks very nice in motion...

Without it, the visuals would be very dull looking.

That or I was high on acid and I didn't know about it.

The intro was so terrible I captured it for shit and giggles, if anybody has 6Mb to host it send me a PM, it is really funny :D

Actually it does look good. The lightning over the vehicles is quite pretty and the canvas is cool.

It's amazing that anyone could think that'd be a good idea for an intro. It's no wonder Acclaim went under when they're trying to push stuff like that.

What is the hook with this game? Is it straightforward street racer or does it have something different about it. How does it compare to SRS or NFS U2.

for gods sake - they redesigned the hud (in the acclaim version it was just horrible looking). hopefully the controls will be much better than in the previous edition (some fast cars were unsteerible and it was review code >:O)

The engine tunning is neat and it has a shitload of customization options, plus it has my first car :D

Groovy.

As ram says the review code had some major flaws being some unsteering bricks the most evident, but even with them it had some promise. I'd bet money on Acclaim rushing the hell out of the game in order to avoid bankrupcy for a few weeks.
