Ugh I was only off by 21k and this was my first prediction post:
[360] 112k
[PS3] 81k
[3DS] 160k
[WIU] 31k
[PSV] 18k
360 +5k
PS3 +2k
3DS +10k
WIU +2k
PSV +2k

Off by 21k

I would've ranked in the top 10!

Real:

3DS - 150,000
360 - 107,000
PS3 - 79,000
Wii ~ 35,000
DS ~ 31,000
WiiU ~ 29,000
Vita ~ 16,000
Ouya - >5K, <10K
PSP - <10K

My predictions:

[360] 105K -> 2K under
[3DS] 152K -> 2K over
[PS3] 90K -> 11K over
[PSV] 22K -> 6K over
[WIU] 34K -> 5K over
Total -> 26K off

I was spot on with 3DS / 360, pretty off with PSV / Wii U, and WAY off with PS3.

That's the last time I overestimate PS3 sales.

We both pretty much overestimated everything. We have to remember sales are up [slightly] in June that's the Father's Day affect, strongest for handhelds historically. There were no weekend holidays in July this year unless Independence Day falls on Friday (or Monday?) which it didn't thus sales would be a bit slower this year. I really think holiday-three-day weekends (and their sale discounts) should be taken into consideration when estimating.

Something I never hear people talk about is taking note of the dates chosen to release titles, it's usually before a sales rush/holiday weekend, but no one seems to talk about that.

We should do a study on the most "popular" release date dates throughout the year for new releases to find our "G-weeks", I mean Japan has a ton of them throughout the year.
