this is going to be BIG :)

Just the fact that Nintendo is publishing this makes me really curious.
I probably wouldn't have paid much attention if it were a Bandai release.

Second thoughts: perhaps they are testing Ganbarion out with the intention of giving them Smash Bros to work on in the future?

They don't beat around the bush, best marketing possible right on the front of the box.

On of the very few games my girlfriend is more excited about than I am, ha ha.

The Fact that Goku is right smack on the middle means sales in Japan, and hell make Goku a little bit bigger on the cover and send it over to the US and it would sell. This one will be big.

I wish they had Pokemon in here so I can have Mewtwo battle YuGiOh's Egyptian Gods. ^_^

jonnyram, I think I may leave a little cash with you before I leave Japan for you to get me this. :D

Is there any more details on the red DS on whether it is just an ordinary red DS or a special Jump SuperStars version? From all of the info that I have seen, it looks like an ordinary red DS to me.

shit, is there a roster yet? cause i must know who from naurto, shaman king, and one piece is in this.

'Tis a shame there's slim to no chance this will see a stateside release.

Disagree entirely. Nintendo is publishing this there so I wouldn't doubt they'd release it here as well. It's gauranteed to do well in America because quite a large number of the shows are available here now. Hell, just the DBZ license alone means it'd sell a solid 500k copies in the US

This game won't be coming here for the same reason the Super Robot Wars games don't make it here. Too many different comanies have the rights to make games with these characters. In Japan, Bandai can make games with all of them.

Maybe you're right? It just seems like every radical game to come out on the DS in Japan seems to have a snowball's chance in hell of coming to America. The best example being Goemon.

Isn't the only licensing problem (gamewise) just with Konami, as Bandai seems to release every other anime game here?

The difference is that this is a Nintendo published game and they're licensing directly from Jump which supercedes other deals I'd imagine.

Well atari has Dragon Ball afaik.

It's not a Bandai game, and I'm not sure Bandai has rights to all of these anyway. Prince of Tennis, Hikaru no Go and YuGiOh are Konami, Bobobo-bo is Hudson... must be some others too.

Bah, Luffy or Naruto should have been center. They will probably release it when Naruto comes stateside and blows up like gangbusters.

I think Bleach has to do with the various Bleach games coming out. HxH is probably missing just because everyone fucking hates it now :P

Kenshin Himura and Hiten mitsurugi vs Yugi Moto and obelisk the tormentor!!!!!!!!!!! OMG!!!!!!!!!!

Gasp, cant breathe...

the box art looks so action packed and screams buy me!!! and so I will. :)

It's gotten that bad beyond just the art? :(

If only this was playable online... I wish Nintendo hadn't made it painfully clear that we still won't be seeing online DS titles until much later into the year, and Nintendo themselves are only releasing two in time for the holidays... (or is Bandai specifically developing this, not Nintendo?)

If it were going to come to the US, it would've been shown at E3. Period.

I'm prepared to eat crow on this, but somehow, I doubt it.

No. It's picking up.
If Shaman King is in, then it doesn't make sense for HxH to not go in due to popularity. (remember by the time SK ended it was the lowest ranked Jump manga)

Perhaps the author didn't want his characters to be in this sort of mish-mash.

Well, whatever. I'm not a lawyer and I don't know the details. I'm just repeating what others who know more about Bandai than I have told me. I'm not holding my breath for this game to come here though.

Maybe one the Japanese speakers here can do a little more research? I mean, Bandai is huge and has a lot of subsidiaries that make toys and release anime. I think they even own a TV channel. Maybe it is because of these ties that they can make games like these.

Ganbarion's games are published by Bandai so I'm thinking that Bandai owns them or part of them. Correct me if I'm wrong here.

What is this game exactly? I know I'm waiting for it before I buy a DS (I want the red and black special edition DS), but I don't acctualy know what the game is.

You're wrong here. Ganbarion is just kind of like the companies you see in the US who only release licensed titles. That's their revenue stream. Bandai buys a lot of anime licenses and then farms them out to smaller developers which is no different than what you see in the US. They don't actually own the property though -- Jump owns the copyright on all of the characters and series from their series. How else do you think they're all appearing in this game?

Now that it has a presence in the US, all the games based off the Jump titles now say "Shonen Jump's Shaman King" or whatever. There's a very strong likelihood in my eyes that Nintendo will release "Shonen Jump's Superstars" in the US. There's nothing stopping them from doing it, that's for sure.

I never said or thought that Bandai owned these series. I know they are Shonen Jump's manga. I was asking if Ganbarion is one of Bandai's game development teams. The only games I've seen them credited for are a couple of One Piece games published by Bandai.

Like I said, no they arent. They're just a developer who does licensed titles. Bandai has no involvement in any form in Jump Superstars.

oooh, pretty box art. i'm sold...and if it eventually makes it stateside, that fine. it probably wouldn't be until 2006 at the earliest anyway. :P

Is Dragon Ball still that hot in Japan? To me is seems the box was made for a US release seeing Goku up front.

I would like to see Naturo take center. Dragonball seems like such old news

Ichigo 100%
kinda tells me not to have to much faith in that list...
who is this Ayaka? Toujo Aya?

DBZ is still huge over there. DBZ Budokai 3 sold a good amount, and Naruto picks up great sales all over the place.

Doesn't this game play poorly though? I thought someone said that it's not a very good game.
