1 SONIC ADVENTURE 2 BATTLE |1,173,123| NGC |

Very little changed this month. Sonic Adventure 2 kept it's upward swing, and Super Monkey Ball DX continues to bomb on both PS2/Xbox. Super Monkey Ball 2 should pass it's predeccessor in two months time if it continues it's current sales pace. Sonic Heroes is currently selling better on the PS2, than on the GC, too.

There was no data for NCAA College Basketball for the GC, so if anyone has that, it would be much appreciated. As with last month, any numbers for Iron Phoenix would be good.

I have no idea why Sega doesn't support the GameCube more fully. In fact, they should be announcing plans to support the Revolution right and left. Nintendo fans seem to eat up Sega offerings on the Cube, why would things change next generation?

Thanks for doing the update. You did include the bundles though, right?

As far as NCAA goes, it's likely that there werent any copies sold for June.

Sega has yet to make a wise decision in all their years in the industry, do you think they'll start next generation? Come on, Shenmue 2 on Xbox?

That was ported and published by Microsoft, wasn't it?

Not to mention delayed for a YEAR when it was almost ready to be the Last Hurrah for the Dreamcast.

Though I guess I should be thanking them, because it made sure that English speakers got the superior version.

I used to ask Sega for Super Monkey Ball 3 for the GCN but then I realized that it would bomb. I really think that the GCN fanboys would look at SMBDX on the PS2 and XBOX and feel betrayed and ignore SMB3. Come on, it happened with Viewtiful Joe 2. :P

SMB3 wouldnt sell too well to begin with though. It'd be a big seller at the budget price.

I didn't include the Monkey Ball bundle. Does the bundle include Monkey Ball or Monkey Ball 2?

it's freaking sad that sega is screwing the console that buys the most Sega games.

well .. life goes on, and hopefully Sega will be gone tomorrow.

y hello thar

exciting thread. good to see anihawk participating. hoefully he'll get better and be able to continue this trend month...after month...after month...after month...

culex, you cant steal his thunder.

it'll be glorious.
and exiting.
very much so.

I truly hope Sega realizes that their Sonic Mega Collection titles sell better than Sonic in 3D.... that speaks for something....

2D for Sonic is the way to go, watch Sonic Rush sales go through the roof

These threads are always LTD

Didn't the first two or three months of numbers for Spikeout not get released?

How is the Xbox version of Sonic Mega Collection? Are the games emulated perfectly?

If we ignore the Visual Concept games, the GC has the top 4, and judging by monthly sales will end up with the top 6 selling Sega games of this generation.

Where the hell is Outrun 2 on Xbox?

Just FYI Outrun 2 flopped. I'd imagine it's somewhere between 25-45K.

I think its funny that some of Sega's best work this generation(Panzer, Gunvalkyrie, etc....) was put on the Xbox yet the best selling sega games are on the Gamecube and PS2. I'm not questioning the success of the Xbox, just Sega putting their AAA titles on only one console.

Yikes! Virtua Quest is over 5,000 total! Pretty good increase from such humble beginngings! :lol

Shining Tears has really tapered off but I still expect it'll make 40-50k like the other Shining games this gen.

I really can`t understand why Sega isn`t brining more games on the GameCube. Look at Sonic, over one million copies were sold. Sega should focus on GameCube and Revolution. They also should bringt games to PS2 and Xbox, but all these games should be released on the GameCube too.

Seeing as how SMB1 + SMB2 have been outselling the SMBDX PS2 + SMBDX Xbox version since those versions have come out I'd say you don't really have a point.

And VJ2 Cube has outsold the PS2 version by 2.5 times so what did the Cube fanboys not do exactly? Did you want them to block the aisles and stop people from buying the PS2 version or something? :lol

Did somebody say GunValkyrie was one of Sega's best games this generation? :lol
Their best games this gen were the Monkey Ball titles.

Well, remove Sonic and Monkey Ball and you have a pretty big drop off in terms of sales. Monkey Ball seems well suited for the Cube, sales agree, but there are some cross-platform Sonic titles and they seem to be pretty big sellers as well, and that is on systems with greater third-party competition. I'm just saying that without Sonic and Monkey Ball, there's nothing for Sega to rush to support the NGC over other platforms, unless it stereotypically targets Nintendo's demographics (kiddy).

P.S. Am I the only one amazed HotD3 sold over 200 000 copies? Those owners must be starving for a good gun game.

It only has sold that much because of last year. That and Skies of Arcadia Legends had a pretty sizeable jump in sales due to price drops.

Well considering how GOOD HotD3 is, it doesn't really surprise me.

:proud to be one of the 200,000:

I find it funny that you try to discount their high sales on the Cube by saying "Take away SMB and Sonic, and what do you have?" Uh, aside from those games Sega really hasn't released many noteworthy titles on the Gamecube at all. There's still the PSO I and II, which sold quite well.

I'm also proud to be one of the 200,000 HOTD 3 owners. :D

I wish Sega would create some sort of Sega Ages Gun Collection. I need House of the Dead 1 and it doesn't look like any of the arcades in the New Orleans area are EVER going to get Virtua Cop 3.>:(

This comment is more retarded than Virtua Fighter Cyber Generations.

Here's a list, and to start you off, I'll point out the PSO being an ONLINE game on the Gamecube couldn't be expected to do better. So go on genius, tell me exactly which Sega GC games you think should have done better?

Why don't they just make more multiplatform games? Other than the smilebit games, what has Sega made that really pushed one system's particular strengths? (and please don't mention Otogi which FROM developed, or F-Zero since a Nintendo IP wasn't going to be on the other systems to begin with)

The funniest (or saddest) part is that their top selling third party game is still a port of a Dreamcast game, and their top selling PS2 and Xbox game got those numbers after retailer fire sales (not to mention they don't have VC anymore).

Oh well, Sammy absorbs the costs now, so I doubt anyone at Sega even gives a shit at this point.

Well, that's very much a matter of opinion. Going with GameRankings, the highest rated Sega game between Xbox/PS2/GCN is VF4. Gunvalkyrie is below PSO Episode III. Heck, I'll just expand this. I had it search for best games released by Sega. I'll try to excise all Dreamcast and Sega Sports games.

Actually the way I look at it is this. The Sega effort on GC can be described as, a niche game that saw huge success, a whole bunch of ports and some sports, a couple of mediocre original efforts like Billy Hatcher & VFQ and a new multiplatform Sonic game. In other words, a shit line up.

The ps2 got Virtua Fighter 4, a cool effort in Shinobi, multiplatform Sonic, lots of sports games and a whole bunch of interesting but unsuccessful efforts like Nightshade, F355, Shining Tears and Headhunter and some other filler including SMB DX. In other words, an below average line up

The xbox got a whole bunch of cool games like JSRF, Crazy Taxi 3, Panzer Dragoon Orta, HOTD 3, Toe Jam & Earl, Outrun 2, lots of sports games and some filler. In other words, a good line up.
