I can't believe they rated a map disc.

it technically is a expansion pack, and they get rated, and its a pretty big expansion if you only look at console specific ones, granted its only fucking maps

I hope Destroy All Humans is good. Please give us some solid impressions on that. And any rumors in the mag?

I'm glad the magazine is using its review score scale a bit more. There used to be some concern Official Xbox Magazine was overrating games by a little, by which I mean a lot.

Got the first issue of my 6 month free subscription today. Judging from screen shots and text provided I am now dying for the end of June to come. Yeah the four maps we have now for Halo 2 are cool, but man the new big team stuff is breathtaking.

As for the demo disc Destroy All Humans and Lego Star Wars are the only ones worth your time. Juiced is an average racing game and Dead To Rights II looks better but has a horrendous camera. DAH has a very nice look to it however the voice actor for Krypto just seems so out of place. It very well could have been Jack Slate hiding in a better game. The telekinesis is easy and there is a ton of stuff to pick up. Plus, you have ample energy to toss stuff around before waiting 10 seconds to let your bar recharge. The only give you this lame shock rifle but the controls worked well. It ends when you hop in your UFO and blow up a few buildings. A bit disappointed in flight control as it doesn't seem like you can control your altitude. Seems this ship is on a steady course and I'll be renting this at the least.

Oh and seems like no hidden demo this time.

I just got the demo for Destroy All Humans today. The game is quirky, and doesn't take itself too seriously. It is very immersive in terms of feeling like a real life 1950s America - under an alien invasion. It's like a satire of what would have happened if Orson Welles' famous "War of the Worlds" radio broadcast had been real.

SPOILERS ahead if you haven't played the demo yet

As far as gameplay goes - there was nothing earth-shattering (no pun intended). You do this weird thing where you pick up cows and kill them, then you kill a guy with a ray gun and take his brain, ray gun a few more guys, and then you have to destroy houses from a space ship. It's all pretty basic (and incredibly violent - with lots of blood and guts - like when you take the guy's brain).

Still though - I like the game because of the immersive atmosphere. This is definitely the kind of game I could see buying and playing through once. It is definitely on my radar screen.

FlatOut: I love destructive arcade racers. The graphics on this look pretty good, lots of cool physics(cars and track stuff breaking into many pieces). Sound is kind of weak. The steering control is really sensitive and took some time to get used to. The special event where you drive up a ramp and eject your driver to see how high you can launch him was a hoot.

Lego Star Wars: It's designed for kids but Star Wars geeks will enjoy it too.

Juiced: Felt like all the other street racer demos I've played before.

Destroy All Humans: Looks like another cool Pandemic game. Using telekinesis to smash cows into the ground was fun. Favorite moment was when the local cops showed up and I levitated their car into the air and smashed it down onto them.

So they shouldn't rate a disc that costs money Mallrat?I'm sure you're all about some Halo MP anyways :lol

??? What are you talking about anyways? I play Halo 2 all the time on Live. Yea, let's just assume.

Oh, and no they shouldn't review the disc, they're just fuckin' maps.

So...should they comment on their quality but not put a number on it? How is that any different than a review (minus a number)?

What?
Can you be more specific about that?

Backwash looks awesome. It's set at the end of 343 Guilty Spark from the first Halo, in the jungle with the tower in the center. At night with fog, rain, insects and tons of trees - great atmosphere.
