EVOs are fricking sweeeeet.

Haha. Acuras do NOT look like Toyotas. WTF?
If anything, Acuras look more like Mazdas (or the other way around..) since they have similar grills. But that's about all they have in common. I can't think of ANYTHING that looks like a TL - besides perhaps a TSX.

Btw, a Camry is a pretty fine car in it's own right so I don't know what you're smoking.
You want a boring car? Try looking at American cars like the Ford Five Hundred - yawn.

Ford Five Hundred really needs a new engine ASAP. It's hauling 3700 lbs with only 200 HP. It's nice inside but they need 250 HP to be competitive.

Oh yeah, the Mercury Montego looks more progressive in styling than the Ford Five Hundred and that's not saying much.

Congrats on the Acura-TL. It's a fine car. Visit the Acura-TL.com forums. :)

The black man everyone at Activision can agree on
The underpowering of the Five Hundred is f*ckin criminal... I'm sure Ford's intentionally holding back a more powerful engine for some stupid internal reason... it's certainly not like they don't have the options available....

The Five Hundred is just a Ford Mondeo (a rather popular model made for Europe) uglified for the american market, hence the lack of power. Gas prices are insane over here, so high powered engines are rare, even more on a entry luxury car like the Five Hundred/Mondeo.

BTW is a really nice vehicle if you want a comfortable ride, I am thinking on getting the new diesel one, that or the new Vectra (diesel too) Decisions, decisions...

Oh god, not this again.... why does something always have to be > than something else?

Now don't get me wrong the 7 speed, 500hp, $90,000 M5 is sweet as all hell...

Except that the European Mondeo is a much nicer looking car as you said... and the ST220 is sweet as shit so there's no excuse for a non-high horsepower version. It's funny how a simple change of the headlights can really affect how aggressive the car looks.

Then again this is the company that sabotaged one of the greatest little sleeper sporty sedans to come over:

195 horsies, 0-60 in about the mid 6 range, price point I think was low to mid 20's.

Sweet! I was thinking of getting one of those for my next car (probably in a couple of years). The only thing I'm a little concerned about is the mileage. Even my Corolla (City EPA - 30mpg) gets about 22 mpg, and this is conservative driving. I can't imagine how much a performance car's mileage would suffer in the city. Stupid San Francisco hills.

Yeah, I imagine that gas mileage would suffer on the hills of San Fransico. One thing to remember too is that all these cars pretty much require premium gasoline, so filling it up every week or so isn't that cheap. Its still completely worth it though, and I think you will be amazed at how powerful and how fun this car is to drive. The build quality is top notch too, really much higher than I expected. It was at least as good as the TSX I test drove, which is saying quite a bit. The engine is smooth and reponsive with a huge torque band that begins around 2500 RPM's and supposedly goes the way to the line (I haven't been able to take it past 4000 since I'm still breaking the car in). Really, I don't think you can beat this car at its price point for power, fun, quality, and amenities (still no NAV though). I think a lot of people that would just scoff off Subaru will be really surprised when they get to see one of these up close; pictures just don't do the car justice.

As for the Acura's "look like everything else" debate. I have to say that I have to disagree. This was once the case, but the later TL and now RL are setting themselves apart. I don't know if you can say that for the TSX since its basically a rebadged Accord. The cars are excellant, and offer the most value of any luxery nameplate out there, but the FWD kills it for me.

Oh and German cars > Japanese cars when it comes to driving dynamics and luxury. But German cars are a terrible value and tend to be less reliable. So take your pick....

I agree, they both have totally different experiences. I would love to have a car one day that offered the best of every luxury company. The interior of Mercedes, the value and reliability of Lexus, and the driving experience of a BMW.

The one thing everyone can agree on is that they are both better then American. :D
