What a night. Me and a bunch of friends decided to get nuts and invite 12 friends to an evening of Tekken 5, including my one buddy that works in a local arcade to set up the brackets and even up the comp as fairly as possible.
Hooked up 3 PS2's, a bunch of couches, a lot of junkfood and blasted away. We set it up 3 rounds per battle, best 2 out of 3 battles, double elimination. The biggest TV was used for the tournament while the other 2 on the other side of the room were for practicing and giving tips to a couple of the newer players. We even had a couple of our girlfriends (who are all good) come and give out some ass kickings.
So many close matches! A bunch of reversals by yours truly, several low parries into juggles, grueling King throw strings, some Zaibatsu level combos, and even a few chickens showed up tonight.
The two closest battles were 1) an infuriated low health Nina managed to tackle a no health Paul while everyone was cheering, but then Paul flips her over and cracked her arm last second for the win and 2) a no health Steve getting smacked in the corner manages a position change with Nina and pummels her into a 70%+ combo comeback victory. And somehow I nailed a confused Heihachi with Kuma's fart. :lol
edit: The most exciting was a cocky Hwoarang coming in for a cheap Spin Kick throw for the victory was BROKEN by Anna. What made it so great was that the guy was already cheering his victory when Anna broke the throw... onscreen her character ducked the Spin Kick and punished him with her triple jumpkicks for the win. The replay on that one was awesome!
I'm missing a whole lot, but that's because so many battles were so close tonight.
I highly recommend this type of get together if you've never done it before. Fun for all!
