Just curious, how many people here are Amazon Prime members?

If they shipped food to PO boxes (more of an issue with the company that sells their food) then i might consider it. As it is, i don't mind waiting a few days for my stuff. Now if they got rid of super saving shipping, i'd consider it, or just look elsewhere to shop.

$79 a year? lol yeah right

It realy changes the way you shop online though. Absolutely no shipping charges, no mimums, and things get to you ASAP.

But I don't see how they can continue to support Prime, at least without changing the price, or terms. They seem to be bleeding tons of money... they raised prices across the board on lots of health and personal care items (up to 35% in some cases), and today I called, and was shocked to have Indian phone support after years of Americans.

"yes, my apostle, you'll get your check in the mail"

Related to Jeff, I found this hilarious:

"Blue Origin's Reusable Launch Vehicle (RLV) will carry three or more passengers"

As long as the passengers after the flight are reusable too, it should be a workable, safe plan. However, could we claim spaceflights under the "Amazon Prime Plan", which claims "Unlimited shipping privileges cost just $79 per year"? After all, it all boils down to being shipped by Amazon.

Yeah, but you would have to make the whole journey in a brown box with a smile on it.

And I had no idea he owned a space company.

Knowing that you spent $80 dollar on free shipping only encourages you to buy more stuff from Amazon ... because you spent $80 on free shipping :)

Well, I ordered a hell of a lot from Amazon when I was in the UK. If you're already a heavy Amazon customer it's a nice offer.

What exactly do you buy so often from Amazon that you need to subscribe to this? It's not like they have the cheapest prices in the first place anyway.

So that's like 20$ if you share it with the max number of persons, isn't bad at all but I don't live in USA I only have an P.O BOx in FL so I need to pay shipping no matter what, but it seems to be a good offer

In my case (which counts for little other than the sake of argument because Amazon Prime is not a UK thing and I haven't been living in the UK for two years now) I used to order DVDs off Amazon all the time. They were cheaper than grabbing them off Virgin Megastore and more convenient, since that usually closed before I got back from school. And since I bought a lot of DVDs I had packages every couple of weeks from Amazon over a couple of years.

Well... you asked for it. :lol (this was fun to do though)

Also note, many items simply aren't for me (and two dozen or so are gifts), let alone purchased with my money.

With both friends, and the dozen or so people at work, if they want something from Amazon I usually order it for them, they pay me, they get two-day shipping, and I get 3% back on my VISA as a commission. Even before Prime, on big items, like the VAIO that a co-worker ordered, we split the 3% back.

The evidence mounts that Goodcow is recieving a stipend from Amazon.

:lol

The closest I get to a stipend is that when I complain, I usually get promotional certificates to keep me happy since I order so much. I'm past $300 in them so far, but then again, I've been ordering things since 1999.

Amazon has horrible shipping and I hate their customer service. I'm never buying from them again.

I don't think anybody else here orders enough stuff from Amazon to justify this program. Hell I don't think that many people spend $80 in shipping on all their Internet purchases over the course of a year (assuming that they don't order real heavy stuff).

Amazon already gives you free shipping on purchases over $25.....not only does that make this program kind of useless, but I imagine they lose more money on that policy than they do on Amazon Prime.

its called leaving the house. There are actually these magical buildings out there, where you can walk in and buy stuff and take it home that very same day.

Yeah, and I leave the house every day, but I abhor the concept of sales tax, and it's usually cheaper at Amazon.

Assuming you are being serious (I thought maybe you were just trying to get a rise out of Goodcow), this is strange to me -- Amazon is the only online retailer I regularly buy from because of their quick reliable shipping (and low pricing and good selection). I don't even know how their customer service is because I've never had to use it.

Maybe I'm just lucky.

In response to the thread question, I'm not, but if I bought more from Amazon I would sign up in a heartbeat. It's a great deal if you're already buying lots of stuff.
