The sound quality, and isolation are fantastic so far. I'm not sure how far they're supposed to go into my ear canal and I can't comment on how comfortable they are until the blister in my ear goes away. ;_;

I have one complaint, and this has to do with how flimsy they seem to be. I'm going to be worried using them, because I fear the one of the phones will short out and soon due to the fact that the ends of the wires seem so exposed. Every pair of headphones I've ever owned that weren't retired because of an upgrade have shorted out.

What kind of warrenty do I get with these things? Is there a way to get an extended warrenty? It looks like there's a clip where the wire meets the phone itself that makes it look like you can replace the wires if need be. What does one do in the event that the headphones short out?

I bought these headphones in part due to the advice I got right here on Gaming-Age. WooWoo

I have a different model and a couple months of use and the 'earplug things' have fallen off. My advice would be to not bend them too much or invert them.

Blister....riiiiiiiight :lol j/k

I believe the best you can do is extending the warranty from 3 mos. to 1 year when you register them with etymotic. I've had mine in daily use for 6+mos. now and haven't run into any problems due to their build. I've ran over the cord a ton of times with the wheels of my office chair and tried to move and had them yanked out of my ears and haven't run into any problems. Personally i wouldn't worry about them shorting out cause of their build (course i've never had a pair of headphones short out so it's not a concern of mine at all), although i do suggest you not pull them out of your ears via the cords as that might actually make your fears come true heh.

The only useful user advice i can give you is to change the filter before panicking if your sound quality ever drops. I didn't totally dry off the inside of one of the flanges one time after cleaning and the tip kept just sliding off. Apparently by doing this i screwed up one of the filters and it cut the sound output of that headphone to about 10% of the other one. After much swearing about thinking i'd f'd up my headphones as a last resort i changed out the filter and all was good again. Odd really since the phones were only about a week old at the time and the filter shouldn't have had a problem due to being dirty or whatnot (haven't had a problem since btw). Extra filters and flanges can be bought at the etymotic website in sets of 3 for $15.

They're multipurpose too, earphones, earplugs and I find they so a nice job of cleaning out ear wax. Not so good for sharing.

Lemurs:

Are you talking just about the actual buds that go into your ears? or the wires that go into the actual 'phone itself?

If you could... perhaps... take a pic and post it here I'll be able to compare with mine.

Congrats on your ER-6is! :D I totally love mine, perfect for the bus. Take good care of them, they are quite small, and yeah at first I too thought they looked like I'd break them pretty easily. Just avoid pulling them out of your ears by the cord :p You'll find the best way to get them out regardless is to twist them out to break the seal they create with your ear canal.

As for how far you have to put them in, hmm, well usually I put them in so only the outermost flange of the silicon tips can be felt on the outside of my ear. One night though I got bored and really shoved them deeper :lol It resulted in better sound too sorta, really felt like the music was "in" my head. I wouldn't recommend pushing them that deep though, since they don't need to be.

BTW, I clean my tips really often. The thing is earwax and other shit is bound to clog the filters, but I figure if I clean my tips consistently, this won't ever be a problem unless some freak accident occurs :p

Plus earwax does have an odour/colour to it :p
