I am interested in downloading music just like i did on regular PC but i was wondering if there is programs which are designed for this OS for downloading? I could use the info thanks.

well its just for school use and the only other function besides basic apps is downloading music. this isn't for gaming by any means. So do you have any recomendations for software which is not over run by viruses and is an easy to use music downloader?

if the ads are to be believed you now have to cover yourself in tangible shadow then dance the night away with snow white earbuds protecting you from the rest of the sad, conformist world.

Not sure what you mean by "downloading", Acquistion X is the best P2P program out there (not free however), there's BitTorrent/TomatoTorrent, and there's iTunes. So whatever is you have in mind, those should cover whatever it is your intending to do. There are tons of other great apps out there, but I don't have the slightest clue what you intend to do other than school and "basic apps", so I can't make any specific suggestions.

now i used to download tons of music through torrent sites and i haven't been online in quite a few months and it seems alot of those torrent sites are pay now. Is there any free torrent sites out there now?

So what would be cheaper? itunes or paying for a torrent site? I was looking at some torrent sites now and they have lifetime subscritions for only $27. Now are those sites in jeopardy of being shut down in near future b/c then it would seem more benefitial to just pay for itunes. But how does itunes work in terms of payment? Do you pay for each individual song? is it worth the money the charge?

iTunes is legal, torrent sites are not.

iTunes generally is 99 cents per song or $10 per album.

Paying for a torrent site is possibly the dumbest thing you could ever do. Since they are illegal, and are always in danger of being shut down, paying for them is stupid AND they have all your information so when they are shut down the RIAA will then also have your information and records of what you downloaded from the site. If you pay for a torrent site, you deserve what's coming to you.

iTunes is 99 cents per song, usually $9.99 an album, and hey, it's LEGAL, so it's not going anywhere.

Plus if you get an iPod, you can synch it right up to iTunes and instantly transfer your entire song library over in seconds.

So when you pay to download these songs what happens if you computer HD might fry on ya and you lose your music. Are you entitled to re-download those specific songs for free? And once you download the songs are you able to burn the songs to discs for backup purposes? It sounds like itunes still over charges b/c a full album for $10 is only a few dollars away and since you aren't getting any kind of material form of the music then really it should be like $.15 per song on itunes. Well thats how it works in my mind

I THINK they keep a record of what you download tied to your account, not sure.

However, you can burn CDs from iTunes music.

Dude, you're the one considering paying for an illegal torrent site.

You can burn the songs to a CD, but only through the iTunes program. And no, you can't redownload the songs. If this matters that much to you, this is what backing up your computer or transferring the files to another HD or CD/DVD are for. :P

LimeWire is on OSX right...

I head that was good but I am using iTunes for most stuff anything that aint on there I try on a friends LimeWire on his WinXP laptop. I refuse do download anything that may have any ad/spyware (i dont know if LimeWire has)

Acquisition, Poisoned and Xfactor are all decent P2P choices. Of course there's BitTorrent as well.

Wait, I'm new here. Am I allowed to be talking about this stuff?

If you want cheap, DRM-free, legal music, do what I do: buy second-hand CDs. Amazon is a good place to start.
