Just heard The Smashing Pumpkins on the local oldies station.

As I was walking up the street yesterday, I got to the corner at about the same time as a kid on a skateboard. He jumped a little and said, "Woahhhh, you scared me, mister!!" I feel old as fuck.

I used to be with it, but then they changed what it was. Now what I'm with isn't it, and what's it seems weird and scary to me, and it'll happen to you, too.

Pearl Jam, for some reason, is always the band that does this to me. Not like they were even my favorite band back then, but they've always felt like the band of my adolescence and then I hear "Even Flow" on the classic rock station and remember that Ten came out more than 25 years ago and... ugh, time, why do you suck so much?

Yeah and if "1979" was released in 2017, it would be called "2000".
Holy shit you're right.

Anyway I can see a song like 1979 on an oldies station. I mean it was produced to sound 80s ish anyway even though it came out in the mid 90s. It's kind an ode to that era.

So much of their stuff is timeless though and in a category of its own. For example, Siamese Dream came out in 1993 and still sounds flawless and nowhere close to being dated.

Btw according to Corgan this demo evolved somehow into 1979

Could have been on the radio in the 30s. Just speaks to the wonderful eclectic nature of this band

I don't know if it's better this way but I work at a college and people are always like, "What year are you?"

I graduated a decade ago!

The 90s started 27 years ago. It's time to accept that 90s music can be played on oldies stations.

I was forced to accept this fact after I heard Smells Like Teen Spirit on a similar station.

I remember the oldies station playing 60s and 70s music when I was a kid and my dad would have it on in the car. Now the same station is mainly 80s, with a bit of early/mid 90s creeping in.

I genuinely consider the day you hear a song you remember being released either played on an oldies station or referred to on the radio as an oldie is the day the child in you dies forever.

I like being old.

My poops are softer, I get to eat earlier, discounts everywhere, I have seats reserved for me on the bus and metro.

Only thing that bugs me is those damned neighborhood hooligans kicking their soccer balls in to my yard then trampling on my bermuda grass....

What the fuck.

1979 is on the oldies station in GTA4.

Liberty Rock Radio wasn't an oldies station! Though now that I think of it...

That was genuinely the only radio station I listened to during the whole game :lol
