Just won a bottle of Pappy 23

That's low. But I will probably never see it again. Hence my issue.

Personally, I'd sell it if I had a bottle. I get that you'd own a bottle of it again, but we're talking about 6K here.

The only reason I'd keep it is if the value increased over time.

If folks are rich enough, or dumb enough, to pay 6k+ for a bottle of booze that retails for $250 then I'd sell that shit in a New York minute.

Secondary market.

Scalping basically.
Oh.

I would probably sell then.

No bourbon is worth that much unless you're a millionaire.

If you want to drink a nice bourbon i recommend wild turkey 101, its delicious in old fashioned's.

Keep it on a shelf and use it as part of your identity. Then every day you'll have $6-8k more confidence and can use it to pick up chicks. Or you know ... sell it.

Mix with with a coke and lemon

Seriously though, I'd sell it.
Then again I'm not into collecting stuff, or expensive booze. I don't think I ever had something from a $100+ bottle that I thought was worth the price.

I'm not familiar with alcohol and a molecular level but I just bought some Jack Daniels Tennessee Honey Whiskey, whatever that brand of vodka is Smirnoff (probably misspelled), and some good Dissorono (again, misspelled lol).

In my mind having that much booze I keep thinking that fish don't fry in the kitchen, beans don't burn on the grill.

Sell it and treat yourself to a different $200 or $300 bottle. You'll get that prestige experience and still pocket the cash.

I am a fellow bourbon enthusiast that strongly believes in spending a ton of money to drink and then piss something out is dumb. Let the taters have it instead.

Sell that stuff before the market value collapses. Unless you're a whiskey aficionado who loves giving pretentious descriptor terms to each drink...

Pappy is good but not worth the premium IMHO. I've had it and it's not like THAT much better. So choosing to drink it is a choice to sip down $300 a dram. If you have a REALLY special business or personal event to celebrate then save it for that.

Otherwise hold it for as long as you can unless the 6-7k you'll get is life changing for you. Then sell away, improve your life, and be richer for it.

Personally I'd try to trade it for a very good condition Rolex. The value on those has gone catastrophically insane but I bet you could trade your $250 buy into a 5 or 6 digit Rolex sub that you will have for life (and your kids, grandkids, etc).

Understood. But I need neither, and by saying that I mean I'm lucky...not cocky.

I decided that I'll hold it until my son goes to college and let him make the decision...

Head over a whiskey bar or local steak house who had it on the menu and try it (if you have before). Make an informed decision.

Personally I'd take Evilore's advice.

How much will it increase in value if left unopened? I have made bank on unopened Pokémon card stuff this last year.

There's no reason to hang onto it IMO. The bourbon aftermarket has never been higher and bottles don't necessarily go up in value over time just depends on the year and what bourbon drinkers think of the "vintage."
