Maybe DC is looking for a new Captain Marvel

I mean it's not as bad as Overdrive, but it's certainly on the lower end as far as the series goes.

High Tier= MMPR thru Zeo, In Space, Ninja Storm, Dino Thunder, Time Force, Jungle Fury, SPD

Mid Tier= Lost Galaxy, Samurai, Wild Force, Lightspeed Rescue

Low Tier- RPM, Turbo, Megaforce

Garbage Tier- Overdrive, Mystic Force.

I have not seen Dino charge, don't shoot me.

If Power Ranger's version of Gokaiger was any good, we could have finally gotten a perfect Power Rangers team to represent the very idea of the franchise and concept that wasn't the terrible MMPR "characters".

But alas.

Thought this was going to be a joke thread about how similar the costumes in the new Power Rangers movie look to Flash and Mera's costumes.

The Power Rangers comics from Boom Studios have been really good. Great art and interesting stories too. So I'm excited for this crossover, should be pretty neat.

Damn, you guys have watched a lot of Power Rangers.

Are any of the shows actually good, or are they only good because of nostalgia? Like, if I were to pick a "good" Power Rangers show and watch it, is it going to be actually awful if I'm not into the series already?

Or have I already missed the boat because I'm older than like, 12?

I'm legitimately asking, I have no problem with watching shows that are "for kids" if there's actual quality there.

I think it depends on the season

Especially during the end of the Disney deal

Looks like @DCComics are crossing over w/anything from the 90s to remain relevant. First TMNT and now power rangers.

It's nostalgia. There's a lot of bad acting, alot of formula, or stuff that is mainly just done for 8 year olds.

But that said, I still remember getting hyped about certain stuff when I was a kid. I could never rewatch it, but it was cool when i was young. If nothing else there are beats or individual scenes where if I put them down on paper, still could sound cool to an adult. But... that's not who they make the show for.

It's not like a Gravity Falls or an Avatar: The Last Airbender or a Young Justice where an adult may get as much out of it for different reasons.

I mean they have been the comic company for the past 4 months...

Now it just seems like they are having fun with their properties

Are you one of those people who think original Pokemon aren't the best ones still?

The Alolan version of Grimer and Muk are already better than their original appearance lol

seriously? pitting RPM with Turbo and Megaforce? Samurai being better? Ahahahahah!

Nah, it really depends on the season. I was already in my late teens in Time Force but I'd argue it's really watchable. And when RPM came out you can thoroughly enjoy it even as an adult.

in space, time force, and rpm are the best, and at the time were supposed to be the end of the rangers, so they kinda cut loose. ninja force is fun in a goofy way. same for dino thunder and spd. jungle fury is ok as well. the rest are missable

The closest to actual quality for Power Rangers is Time Force and RPM, and even then they have parts that are rather childish and low budget. They are worth checking out though.

Stuff like MMPR however only works with nostalgia though. Maybe try watching the original show, Super Sentai, since their storylines tend to be more adult friendly due to the show having a sizable older women fanbase (I'm not kidding).

Jungle Fury is garbage when compared to Gekirangers

well, more like the stuff they show is acceptable to children of that year, I doubt you'd see say, Jetman tier villainy in recent shows

like one of my favorite liveman episodes is about male pregnancy

SPD is what got me back into the series and led me to watch Dino Thunder and Mystic Force. IMO the first two are way better than the latter, but that isn't to say MF is bad. I just found it...weird, I guess is the right word?

There's far less blood and gore in newer shows, but not counting the past 3 years the storylines have remained at about the same level.

No, Mystic Force is bad.

Nah you don't see more stuff like said pregnancy, outright murder that ends with a person being mentally broken, etc.

Power Rangers Time Force has a legitimately good story. Watch that one, it's stand-alone and worth it.

Now, most of the Sentai (Japanese) versions blow the American versions out of the water. For example, Mystic Force is shit-tier bottom level garbage, but its source material (Magiranger) is absolutely amazing.

Likewise, Gokaiger is god-tier all time greatest Sentai ever, and no one can argue otherwise. Most swag in a Sentai crew ever, and a TON of fanservice and amazing action scenes. The American version? Good god, terrible trash.

Mighty Morphin' Power Rangers is definitely the best season, I have not watched every season but I've watched plenty of seasons. Watching MMPR now and comparing it to newer seasons is really not a fair comparison, it was a low budget show going for a simple premise and it succeeds at it. Nostalgia adds a lot to it but even without it the show back in season 1 had "heart" which not even the second season could re-create. Ask 18 year olds and many still remember the originals even though they were born years after it originally aired, there's a reason for that. I still remember people in Rangerboard arguing why the new movie wouldn't be based on MMPR. Sorry, that is the pop culture icon and PRs survives to this day because of it.

In terms of quality in general RPM is easily the best and no I don't find it overrated either but PRs will always be MMPR.

Jungle Fury is garbage when compared to Gekirangers

Gekirangers isn't Power Rangers, no one outside of a niche is going to watch Super Sentai which even if the story is a little more serious at the end of the day it is still a show for children.
SPD is what got me back into the series and led me

SPD was also the season that got me back into the series, I checked it out as a "I can't believe this show is still on" and by the end of the episode I was researching all the stuff I missed since I stopped watching and have been a fan since. The whole 2 years per theme kind of killed a lot of my love for PRs recently but this new movie and MMPR nostalgia wave is bringing me back. The yearly themes really worked for me since it meant that even if I didn't like it the next year there was an opportunity.

Eh I dislike the "it started it so it's best" mentality. Makes you wonder why people make more.

SPD started good but man towards the end it was losing it and the kalish-plosions became more predominant.

Not even close. Usually the only people who think MMPR is the best are the ones who haven't seen much after MMPR. Even the MMPR themselves became a much better team after they switched to the Zeo powers and dumped the old costumes.

Nope.

Personally id rate the best teams as the Jason Trini Zac MMPR team. The Space team and the Lost Galaxy team.

Zeo didnt even have kimberly by that point. Despite being mostly the origional team.

On an unrelated note. The Space Ranges fighting the Ninja Turtles has to be the strangest power rangers crossover ever

Get over it haters, Cyborg and Captain Marvel for that matter is better than all your faves.

I never said I hated Cyborg. But no one has done much with that character that has left a strong impact with me, with possibly the exception of the 'Justice League: War' animated movie and it's sequels. The scene where Batman questions Cyborg's lack of digestive track (and where the chewed food goes) is a fairly funny sequence from the Teen Titans movie that came out.

Gekirangers isn't Power Rangers, no one outside of a niche is going to watch Super Sentai which even if the story is a little more serious at the end of the day it is still a show for children.

Many people here got into the Justice League from the DC Animated shows like Batman TAS and Justice League; and they were also children's shows.

My only disappointment with choosing the Mighty Morphin team are the villains. The DC universe needs to face against the scourge that is the Machine Empire.

Machine Empire is kinda easy pickings for the league since they're all machines tho

Red Ranger is a Macy's parade balloon, teaming up with Superman...

Austin St. John didn't get paid enough for his work

My dream for the last few years for DC movies was that Kyle Rayner would summon a Megazord to fight Darkseid

Gooooo Greeeeeennnnn Lannnnternn Go
Go Green Lantern Go Go

I'm looking forward to getting the graphic novel when it releases, I recently read the first Power Rangers graphic novel and it was great.

Yeah I can't wait. I just saw this article on IGN, it sounds like they really enjoyed it.
The new Batman / TMNT mini-series is really good too. Superb artwork plus it takes place in the DCAU.

Is it?

I checked out first issue and didn't grab me as much as the previous one... maybe go back to it

And need to track down the new GL/Star Trek crossover!

If you didn't like the first issue, I doubt the second one will change your mind but so far I'm enjoying it just as much as the first mini. It feels like a true continuation of the Batman Adventures comic. Minor spoilers for #2:
and the April / Batgirl fight was dope.

I think I read the first issue of GL / Star Trek or at least I flipped through it but the artwork kinda turned me off.
