Killer 7 Pushed Back in Japan
Perhaps more time for another stylish trailer?
By Anoop Gantayat

February 9, 2005 - Just as Killer 7's Japanese release was coming into view, Capcom comes in and announces a delay. Originally scheduled for Japanese release on 3/24, Killer 7 is now expected to ship in May, or possibly later.

No reason was provided for the delay. Both the PS2 and GameCube versions are affected.

The US version is set for June. It's unknown if the Japanese delay will cause a stateside delay beyond that.

I'm eagerly awaiting the impressions that are currently under NDA. Hopefully, this is more than a Choose Your Own Adventure with shitty light gun-style action bits.

Without having played it, K7 > PN03. (Or, as I like to call it, P.O.S.03)

i put 10 minutes in PN03 and thought it was one of the worst games i played
i put 1 hour into it and thought it was very average
i put 3 hours into it and thought it was average to meh
i put 5 hours into it and it became good
i put day into into and it became brilliant

out of interest because this isn't a witch hunt or anything ( and be honest with your answer) how long did you play and were you frustrated by the controls?

Guess what game is a joke.

... Parodius?

I didn't like the controls, no. And the game is just so incredibly -bland-. The enemies, the environments, just blah. My review:

05/09/2004
SCORE 5.0

P.N.03 is the perfect name for Capcom's new shooter—as awkward and underwhelming as the game it represents. The simple shoot-and-dodge gameplay, minimal story, and points-based power-up system all seem geared toward fast arcade action, but a frustratingly stiff control scheme constantly pulls on the emergency brake. Not being able to strafe or shoot while moving limits the fun you can have racking up high-scoring combos and buying (or upgrading) Vanessa's different power suits. And there's just no excuse for the boring robot enemies and sparse, flat environments.

I played it a long time ago, but I remember playing it more than one day. I also had put some time into an earlier version (or was it the import?). Maybe 10-12 hours?

My impressions are the same as DCharlie's. As you unlock and as you figure out the combo system, the game gets much, much better. Playing through the entire thing on hard with the Papillion suit was sheer shooter brilliance. One of the best experiences this gen and thanks to unlockables one of the easiest to pick up and play.

It didn't bother me, since the game was built with the controls in mind. It's just like RE4 how you can't move around if you aim your gun. If you could move around while shooting, the game would be too easy. Something would need to be changed to accomodate the new controls. In PN03, you need to know how to dodge attacks depending on the enemy, like whether to jump back or strafe/double strafe. The game really shines for me when you start learning enemy patterns and start blasting through the game without getting hit. I think this is why people say PN03 reminds them of old school action games, where you try to go through the game without getting hit and achieving a high combo. I'll acknowledge that the enemies are pretty bland and it doesn't offer many environments, but I found the game fun for what it is.

Also, control Type B >>>>> Type A

PNO3 just got repetitive for me. Not enough new machines to fight, and the fact that I had to slam the A button as fast as possible to shoot just sucked. Yes you could upgrade it, but even fully upgraded it was still faster to just mash "A". Bosses were a breeze with the power drive, and yet at times in normal rooms I felt when I got killed it wasn't because I was bad, but because the game cheated.

The similarities to RE4 are uncanny though:
Moody music, no moving while shooting control scheme (I never had a problem with this in either game), buying and upgrade shop, enemies drop chash, a "combo" scheme similar to what RE4 does with mercenaries, a graphically detailed main character.

Where PNO3 really fails is its lack of variety. The same enviroments and enemies just get old. It also doesn't have all the bells and whistles of RE4: cutscenes, graphical details, a lengthy quest, ect. The controls could have also benifited from the "Splinter Cell" view while aiming instead of the current lock on and mash "A" configuration. The game pretty much sucks, and you shouldn't have to play for 6 hours before it begins to get fun. I did, and still lacked in fun.

edit: oh the regenerators in RE4 got me completly rehyped for Killer 7. Bring it!
