Do you guys even think Kanye West takes Kanye West seriously? That may be even a little too far-fetched even for him!

It's all about publicity. I mean, I have just about everything he's made. He has so many songs that don't make LPs that are better than other's best song.

He sat on "Hey Mama" for 2 years. He was going to put it on College Dropout, then waited for Late Registation. He has the song called "Home" That was supposed to make it, I'm not sure he was able to clear the sample though. That song is nice as fuck. He and John Mayer have the song "Bittersweet" that Kayne is holding on too. The song "We Can Make It Better" on the UK and Jap release of Late Registration shits on a lot of songs this year.

Kanye is the man, point blank. You can hate what comes out of his mouth, but you can't hate on his talent, it's too undeniable.

^^ We Can Make it Better, Bittersweet, Home, Self Conscious (A.K.A. Yeah), Livin' In A Movie, Roses, Gotta Pose, I need 2 know, Overreact

He has some incredible songs, you guys just need to listen to them.

EDIT: Here's a list of some stuff he's produced, most are sampled, some of the stuff was surprising (in that, I hadn't thought he produced it):

Where in the HELL is this song? :(

I can't stand his music, his style, or him...anyone who thinks this guy is anything more than a passing phase is retarded. He is a product of why this country (and this world) has gone to shit...thread closed.

Kanye's a classic; another archetypal self-parodying personality of the genre. Still, rap itself will likely be among the smallest (and least musical) footnotes in "musical" history, much less Kanye himself.

Passing phase? WTF? Do you know how much shit this guy has produced? I agree that he's too cocky for his own good and his rapping isn't the best, but Kanye is not a passing phase. Fuck you if you think that makes me retarded.

No shit, he's just the biggest perfectionist the music world has probably ever seen. Leading up to the release of College Dropout, he changed the arrangement of the snares and hi-hits in at least 5 different versions of the song. On the song, All Falls Down, it went from Lauryn Hill, to Brandy, to Syleena Johnson, with Johnson on the LP version on College Dropout. I don't think there is a person in music who loves music more than him. The beat he sold to Talib Kweli for the song 'Get By' He sold that to Talib for 15,000. Mariah Carey wanted that beat. Keep in mind, the going rate for a Kanye beat checks in for about 100,000 plus. He sold that beat to Talib because he felt that he did it justice better than Mariah Carey would've done.

He brought in Jon Brion to help with the arrangements on Late Registration because he was fond of the work Brion had always done on Fiona Apple LPs. Kanye pays for most of his videos out of his pocket because he doesn't want his vision slowed down my Def Jam. Late Registration cost 25 million to make.

http://yahoo.eonline.com/News/Items/0,1,17927,00.html

Kanye West was responsible for an eye-popping 20 nominations--eight for the social-minded rapper who avoided the sophomore slump with Late Registration, eight for his R&B protégé John Legend and four more for Common's Be, which will compete against Late Registration for Best Rap Album.

As a (small-time) producer, Kanye is the biggest fuckin inspiration.

He is the best thing in music.

You guys are fucking harsh, you know that? I don't think I could point to a single instance where I was mean to any of you and yet you casually ignore facts in order to attack me.

It's getting pretty fucking ridiculous.

WHERE'S THE HUMILITY???

:lol @ passing phase...fucking idiot.

Well what he said isnt a s retarded as Paris Hilton. Someone asked her wether a certain stroy had got to the UK and she replied "no, but there is stuff in London". when they told her that London is in the UK she said "right, Uk whatever"

He sure as fuck wasn't white, that's for sure.

Christ, I'm not even sure she's a passing phase (her 15 minutes should've been up a year ago)...but she'd qualify for that categorization a hell of a lot sooner then Kanye.

If there is one thing that kayne west has ever done right, its making the song "jesus walks". The actual song is quite shit but it was perfect for the jarhead trailer.

I really think he has just lost his damn mind.. plain and simple..

Too bad this lad doesn't have the musical chops to back up those big words. I'll be glad when this tool's 15 minutes are up.
I'm sure you're just pissed off that he said George Bush was a racists, White Man. :|

At least thats how I see it. [/sarcasm]

I've been listening to his music a lot less frequently since he started making an ass out of himself in interviews. And I actually liked his Grammy acceptance speech.

This post does not make any sense...

Anyway, Kanye's talents as a producer will carry him, even if/when his likeability as a rapper ends.

I doubt that. Rap/hip-hop is the dominant form of pop music today, just as rock 'n roll used to be. When people think of youth culture these days, they'll think of rap before thinking of rock.

And people who say rap isn't music annoy the piss out of me.

Haha. I read an interview with Deep Donkey Crew yesterday (that's our own local gay communist rap group- we're damn proud of em) and they addressed something about this. I dunno if I can find the interview online but shit it's hilarious.

Just like Jazz and Rock, right? We can see how those 2 ended up.

jesus was black, bitches, and i'm being totally serious when i say i believe this.

What? I know he was never Northern European like how he's portrayed now, but black? He was supposed to have been a Jewish Israeli for crying out loud, and on top of that; the son of god. So, unless you're saying that you believe God is black...

Let me guess, the extent of your exposure to rap is 50cent?

Exactly. Everyone knows the son of god isn't black...

...

Actually, if the first humans were from Africa, and hence, black, it doesn't really make sense to say that God couldn't be black (that is, if you were retarded enough to have an argument about God's skin color).

Well, I'd first have to have some friends in order for me to be able to say that and secondly I don't believe in God (I'd rather not start that discussion again), so I'm coming from the idea that "Jesus" was a real Israeli from the middle-east, although not with super duper magical powers.

If the first humans were from Africa and were black, that means they eventually migrated to other places. Meaning that even if Jesus was an Israeli from the middle-east, he would be black.

The story of Kanye West is that of a tragedy. All that good production wasted on his severely limited and painfully amateurish rap skills:

"If a stripper named Porscha and u get tips from many men
Then your fat friend her nickname is minivan"

Ugh....

I know he's not the greatest rapper, but don't quote that as if all his lyrics are like that.

Fuck Kanye West
