Was the Karate Kid reboot set in the same universe as the original? Why is Danyo-san in this one?
Karate Kid multiverse zomg.
If Macchio and Chan do not fight then what are we even doing?
Yes, because I really need to see a middling actor in his 60s fighting a man in his 70s. The CGI needed to make it work would break the budget.
Making new movies instead of pandering to nostalgia? If Macchio and Chan do not fight then what are we even doing?
Nostalgia pays the rent.Making new movies instead of pandering to nostalgia?
It would not at all. Both were in their primes for that fight. Again, Jackie Chan is 70...he'll be playing the "Mr Miyagi" trope. It would be like when Bruce Lee and Check Norris had a fight.
Well, I don't think Macchio gets any work if he doesn't pander to nostalgia. It's the Cobra Kai show that brought him back.Making new movies instead of pandering to nostalgia?
No, I don't care if Macchio is involved. Stop remaking this goddamn movie. It's never coming close to the original.
^Figured. Can't wait to see him running the car dealerships on the big screen. Had no idea they had six seasons already.
Ralph Macchio has been drinking from the fountain of youth.
This right here is PEAK male physique....though I've seen folks call this a "dad bod" FFS
It varies a lot depending on which sport or discipline you're adapted to, and your genes, but basically that's peak natural form for a martial artist, yes. It's just that everyone is using gear now -- around half the people in every gym in the US and many other places -- just to get better aesthetics, which is ridiculous. And it's steroids + dehydration + makeup + CG to get those Marvel Superhero shots. Perceptions are massively warped. This right here is PEAK male physique....though I've seen folks call this a "dad bod" FFS
None of that shaved chest BS, or a 4 month diet and a 2 day aggressive dehydration to get to 2% bodyfat for 45 minutes of footage and then IMMEDIATE fluid support to prevent DEATH. We need to bring back a powerful, athletic, but practical build.
While I do appreciate the bodybuilder physique, or at least the 70's and earlier version before folks started getting muscles on top of their muscles and that thick waist bloated look, I think for "Action roles" a return to strong, but not shredded, physiques is in order. The obsession with replicating the "painted on superhero costume" look has just gone to the extremes. These guys are grinding it out for MONTHS for that 1 money shot and while it's fine for comics (gotta admit, Jackman being...jacked in DP3 was sweet) it's not really what I want for soldiers, fantasy heroes, or whatever. There is a happy medium between "scrawny guy slowly working through choreography" and "jacked T monster gorilla slowly working through choreography". I kinda miss the 60's and 70's tough guys who looked like they did WORK, not just sculpt muscle. It varies a lot depending on which sport or discipline you're adapted to, and your genes, but basically that's peak natural form for a martial artist, yes. Not a fan of Crowder, but the meme he was mocked for is spot on.
FTFY.No, I don't care if Macchio is involved. Stop remaking this goddamn movie. It's never coming close to Part II.
1 > 3 > 2FTFY.
I feel like Karate Kid Part 2 is a rare instance where the sequel is way better than the original.
