Previews taking place this week

I got to go there two weekends ago for their staff-only tech rehearsal, and it was SO GOOD! The park is bigger and better than the one in CA, and the Donkey Kong park is super cool, if not a bit sparse. (But some of the shops weren't open yet when I went.) The mine kart rollercoaster was so good, big fan of that.

The Mario Kart ride is quite literally exactly the same as it is in CA and Japan (which makes sense, since it's as much a video game as it is a ride).

I dunno. If anyone has any questions about the park, let me know. It was so much fun and I'm looking forward to when it opens.

I also visited the other four new parks in Epic Universe, and most of them were great too.

Did you get any food at Toads or DK land? Also can you get me one of those DK mugs. I will pay for it. :)

What's your deal?
That a theme part destined for kids have huge amount of manchildren going that refuse to grow up, because the current environment coddles them? It's fine to buy Kirby for your kids, or even play with them. It's another thing to do it as a 35-year old.

It's up to other people to choose what they do with their time and money. We are all on a video game forum, arguing about what people do with their own time and money. Video games in general are a toy, only kids play with toys.. right? I hope that puts things into perspective for you.

What are you talking about?
It's pretty obvious.

35 year olds enjoying video games isn't taking away from children's enjoyment of them. Unlike the theme park man children clogging up the lines at Disney.

Some kids aren't even lucky enough to get to go to amusement parks ever. Those that do can learn a little thing called fucking patience. Nuff said.

You're talking to the wrong guy. I don't do theme parks unless my work is paying for it but I hate children and don't give a fuck if they have to wait in line at Disneyland.

Yup. Some of the nut jobs in this thread are completely detached from reality. Heaven forbid little Timmy has to learn to wait in a line.

Food wasn't open at DK land, but I got food at the Toadstool Cafe (and I've had every item from there in the CA park, as well). The offerings in the Florida park were identical to the CA Toadstool Diner, but the burger I got was actually much better in the Florida park. Specifically, the patty was actually properly seasoned in Florida, and it was pretty delicious.

The DK mugs, sadly, weren't available yet. There's a chance I might be going back to the park next week, and if they have those mugs, I'm definitely gonna try and get a couple so I'll keep you posted lol.

I saw some stuff from How to train your dragon land, and it looks cool to have wandering dragons and cast all waiting for photo ops.

Misplaced aggression.
Oh speaking of those, they had one baby dragon that was actually one of those Boston dynamics robot dogs, only fully kitted out as a dragon. I don't know anything about that movie, but holy crap that little robot dragon was AWESOME. It looked and moved freakishly lifelike.

The other dragons were giant puppet suits with humans inside, and they were also similarly impressive. But the robot dog dragon was wild.

Sadly, the rides seem kind of lame and Epic Universe has already got two rides better than Disney has had in a couple decades or so.

The DK mine kart rollercoaster, while incredibly fun, was definitely leaning more towards a "kid/family-friendly" coaster. It was still great, but the most thrilling aspects of it were the broken track segments throughout the track. When you see those coming up, even though the logic part of your brain knows they're intentional, they REALLY make you feel like something went horribly wrong and you're about to Rollercoaster-Tycoon yourself right off the track into an explosive death lol.

I imagine that effect will wear off the more times you ride that coaster, but the first time I rode it, my cheeks clenched HARD during those broken track segments.

The new coaster in one of the other parks, Stardust Racers, was a proper thrill ride. One of the best coasters I've ever been on, easily in the top-20, maybe the top-10. It was fantastic.

The Monsters Unchained and Ministry of Magic rides look absolutely amazing.

I appreciate this was posted in off-topic.

Some of the responses though...those should have been relegated to our off-off-topic section: (4chan)

Looks like I'm going back to Nintendo World (and Epic Universe) this Monday and Tuesday. I can't take any pictures, but if there's anything anyone wants to know or have me check out, lemme know.

i have a question:
will i survive the lines if i go at the end of january 2026 (that's the plan)? also is one day at epic enough do you need 2 days to see all the important stuff: the three nintendo rides, monsters unchained, the harry potter ride, starfall racers etc?

I'd say regardless of when you're going, you should expect to wait in long lines. I've gotten the impression from my friend who works there that there really isn't a "magic" time to go where lines are light, just avoid going in the summer.

And honestly, yeah I'd say you should probably plan for two days in Epic Universe. It took me two days to do all of those rides, and that was during a staff tech rehearsal where the lines weren't as long. The nice thing is that if, somehow, you manage to do all of the rides in your first day, there's still a ton to do and explore in the parks, especially Nintendo World. I'd recommend getting the little wristbands for your family and trying to do the challenges around the park, then "defeat bowser Jr" and stuff like that.

You might be able to get away with doing only one day if you skip the Harry Potter ride. I expect that ride will have 3+ hour waits, easily. (Which does suck, but it's also the coolest line queue I've ever been in.)

And depending on how much you care about the gaming aspect, you'll probably want to do Mario Kart twice. Just cause it's kind of tough to get the hang of it the first time, and it's way more fun the second time imo.

Also, don't skip the Dragon Racer's Rally coaster in how to train your dragon world. It's not the most thrilling coaster ever, but it's super smooth and incredibly fun. Honestly all the coasters are incredible and you should do them all.

Oh another good tip is to download the Universal app ahead of time and the week before you go, just check and see what the trends in wait times are like.

15 min for Stardust Racers is insane. Maybe your wait times won't be too bad!
