Katamari Damacy is AWESOME!

I picked this game up for free after I traded in Star Ocean. I contemplated getting the sequel, but decided against it because

A) I'd never played the original, and the first one was never thought of as unrealized in concept to begin with.
B) If I had bought the original, it's likely that I would never have bought this one.

So anyway, wow. So relaxing, so off the wall, very funny. Music is great, and I haven't played a better stress reliever since Animal Crossing.

Excellent game, and I'll be sure to pick We Love Katamari up later on.

I wouldn't say the game plays all that wonderfully, but the presentation is amazing and completely makes up for it. Kinda like Rez.

Excellent thread, Speevy. Having never played a Katamari game in my life, I'm seriously considering the purchase of the upcoming PSP rev.

More impressions, please.

Bah. Nothing wrong with starting threads about old games. I've seen people talk about ICO within the last 6 months.

Way to go, Speev. You're well on your way to becoming a well rounded gamer. XBOX, PS2, Gamecube...OWN THEM ALL and play the best! :D

The game is a total blast. Have fun!

True, but nobody's boycotting Ico!

Katamari Damacy is the epitome of uniqueness, and yet somehow it's sequal manages to continue the zaniness of the first one too!

I haven't heard many good things about the PSP version. The control scheme sounds totally FUBAR.

Anyway, yeah, Katamari is a wonderful thing. I do highly recommend We Love Katamari, though, once you run out of things to do in KD. The soundtrack isn't QUITE as catchy (though I might be inclined to say it is more mature and cohesive), but almost everything else about the game is fuller, richer, and longer than the original. And you can even import the stars you made in Katamari Damacy. It doesn't really feel so much like a sequel as it does a refinement and further exploration of the ideas presented in Katamari Damacy.

Making the moon is the epitome of happiness, so sublime. The screaming of the future moon stuff is so soothing, especially the building full of screams.

Nice impressions - I'll definitely buy both Katamari PS2 games. But I've been playing PSP/DS a lot lately, and it would be nice to have a decent Katamari game on the go.

I wouldn't count it out just yet...

Impressions were mixed on it (as far as controls are concerned). We could also see some changes made to it.

It's still recommended that you go for the first two, though.

I think Katamari Damacy is my favorite game this gen. I was hesitant to buy the game after only hearing about it from people who played the Japanese version, but I'm glad I got it when it released, cause it is so good. I havent met a single person who has played it, and not liked it.

I really hope they stop ddoing katamari damacys after the psp one, they have to do something new now, I hope namco lets them do whatever they want

Nice to meet you demi, well. There's one, but I have yet to meet a girl, or any hot girls for that matter, who havent liked it (yes, I've met two, one being mind blowingly cute).

I'm a girl (o)(o)

An impeccably hot girl ( o )( o )

Katamari Damacy, after the first, is much more labor than love for the team:

Suddenly celebrated for his originality, Takahashi would soon have to tackle the possibly contradictory idea of doing a sequel. He told his bosses at Namco several times that he wouldn't do one. "But it came to a point where the company was willing to release a sequel without me," he said. He discovered that the company's planned sequel seemed more like a re-release, primarily swapping Christmas graphics into the original game. "That went against everything I wanted to do with Katamari," he said. So he agreed to get involved.

Oh, I do trust the wacky jappy crew. I love wacky jappy games, it's just that my brother had just gone to college taking our PS2 and it was a decision of whether or not to buy PS2 now, or wait for him to bring that one back home.

As for Drill Land, what's it for and is it a puzzle game or?

It's a Mr. Driller game for Drillland with better music than Katamari Damacy (no, really) and lots of gameplay modes and unlockable.

The WACKY JAPPY crew is currently telling everyone to get off their asses and buy OUENDAN! for the DS.

The best thing about We <3 Katamari is it knew the anniversary of my first day of playing Katamari Damacy and the King congratulated me.

What a game!

And yeah, get Ouendan.
