[KeplerL2] PS Portal OLED Version coming this year

Judging by the Portal sales, it might be a wise decision. I'm still in disbelief at how many people actually seem happy with it.
Yeah seems to be a success, they're even doing another version this year
Wait, another version of the Portal? Can you talk more about it?

Thanks for all your info

the overpriced product becomes even more expensive... I mean... sure lol, there's probably people who will buy it for god knows what reason

Are you trolling? Or do you seem to think all 6 million Portal owners are just stupid?

Thats honestly pretty shortsighted when you actually break it down, especially for anyone who's already in the PlayStation ecosystem
Exactly! Pay twice as much to play on something that feels worse in my hand and does the same thing the Portal does for PS5 owners.

Awesome, the LCD screen is primary thing holding me back from buying a Portal so if this is true then I'll most likely get one. I'd love to see back paddles and trigger stops on it as well which would make it a true Pro version of the Portal.

I find it curious that people really don't understand anything about networks and streaming, and this topic proves it.
PS Portal currently has Wi-Fi 5

PS Portal Wi-Fi 6 >>>>>>>>>> PS Portal OLED + Wi-Fi 5 for game streaming.

Networks and streaming isn't what is being talked about so I don't see how "this topic" proves anything in that regard.

PS Portal is what Microsoft should have done but lacked the courage or competence to do.

If you want to pay for xCloud rental and wait in line to play, just buy the "Xbox" Portal.
If you want to play whenever you want, avoid queues, and not pay for xCloud, buy an Xbox Series X and an "Xbox" Portal.

But I'll explain why Microsoft doesn't do this: they want to force an eternal monthly rental fee on you and prevent you from buying your own games and having your own console to play your streaming.

As always, Xbox consumers are treated like fools, manipulated and deceived, and then they come to bother us in PlayStation forums criticizing a product that is far superior to Microsoft's garbage made for suckers.

Well, I've seen several reviews evaluating the Portal... nobody commented on the Wifi standard version... I don't blame the users for not even thinking about it.

Pretty sure that has been brought up before, but either way, "this topic" is about the new OLED version. We don't know what wifi will be included with it.

Its pretty sick since they added cloud streaming. Network speeds and connection stability determine the experience in my opinion but I was pretty impressed after the update. You can now play ps5 and portal at the same time, or not even need a ps5. Depending on your play style, it's pretty decent.

We need the Portal Glasses

Latency and framerate would be terrible for VR. Here's a better idea, stick the PS6 Canis SOC into a VR headset, PSVR Standalone is born and compatible with all PS4/PS5/PS6 games.

Where did you get these numbers from ?

Inferred from attach rate we have for the US ~7% and sales numbers we've seen in other markets suggesting a similar attach rate.

So out of thin air? But it should be close

Sidenote: I never said anything about VR I was talking about glasses that give you a a theater like view

I hope it has other enhancements. For the hardware, Wifi 6 or 7 for one. Larger battery as well. On the software side, better game streaming with a higher bitrate would do wonders to help combat macroblocking.

I've been using the Portal for a year now, and honestly, it's an excellent device for squeezing in some gaming sessions during a busy day. Sony really just needs to expand their server coverage a bit more. When I'm in the EU or the US it works flawlessly, but in smaller Middle Eastern countries the connection can get pretty patchy at times.

Overall, though, it's a great device and a perfect companion to the PS5.

I can't understand why people buy this.

Streaming away from the living room, playing on the portal if someone else wants to watch something on the TV, winding down on the sofa or bed and not wanting to have the TV anymore etc etc it isn't rocket science to understand some use cases.

To sell them
What a response my man

Day one, the screen quality on the normal portal is VERY good for not being oled. I'm in for one 100%

I see thousand of products every day that I don't buy. You know why? They're not for me :)
