[KeplerL2] PS Portal OLED Version coming this year

They re usually pretty good about shipping. You could be right about the influx jamming things up right before Chinese New Year though, hard to say.

Did you get the 8GB or the 12GB? Because if it's the latter, you won't even need to worry about waiting for the Odin 3 Portal unless you are specifically trying to run beefy PS3 emulation or AAA PC via Gamehub/Gamenative. The raw horsepower of the SD Elite will only really benefit those two use cases, and currently the GPU drivers are in shambles, so it's actually a regression for many emulators at the time of this writing.
Not to go off tangent on this thread about the Portal, but I just received mine. Mine is the 8gb/ 128gb version of the portal. It seemed to be the best deal at the time, and it was my first handheld from these Chinese companies. I now have a AYN Thor on the way.

I am mainly gonna use the Odin 2 Portal for PS2, PS1, Wii, maybe some switch emulation. So I am not too worried about horsepower in it.

When you say the GPUs drivers on the Odin 3 are currently in shambles and it's actually worse in performance compared to Odin 2 Portal in some cases, is that from experience? I have seen some people share that emulation has been fine for them with Odin 3.

Not sure how that's relevant? If they're sitting on a bunch of 120hz screens they no longer need, they can use them in a 60fps specced device.
using a bunch of more expensive screens on a device that will not be capable of making use of the feature that makes them more expensive in the first place is stupid. stop trying to will the idea of the handheld being canned into reality

So is it possible to just download a game from my account and play it without remote mode directly on the portal or won't that ever happen?

Hopefully I'm wrong, but I don't see modern Sony supporting two models of Portals right now. They'll be looking for excuses to increase the average selling price, and they can market a larger OLED panel, better wifi, bigger battery as upgrades. Pretty much every hardware manufacturer is trying to eliminate their lowest priced options right now because they're viewed as unsustainable.

Welp. $250 for the existing Portal - will they introduce OLED at the same raised price point, or will it be another premium product sold at a higher $300 price point?

Right now their base model offerings are shit value, just being used as a price ladder to sell the top end. It seems Sony cosplaying as Apple will continue.
