He really fell off. Dogma was the last film of his that I really enjoyed. Clerks 2 was okay but nowhere near the original in terms of dialog.
I wasnt fan of Clerks 2. Dogma was good but it seemed super preachy at the time.
For me its all about Clerks 1. Mallrats and Chasing Amy are good but Clerks 1 is really where its at.

This. It's wild how badly he dropped off after finishing Red State and honestly weed's a massive part of it. As soon as he stretched a "dude what if" bit from one stoned podcast out into a feature length movie (Tusk), it was all over. After that everything was a total cop out, no pun intended.
I'm a regular smoker and Kevin Smith is maybe the best advocate NOT to smoke I've ever seen.
On a positive, I still think Dogma's the best movie he's made although the other 90s classics come close.

Kevin Smith had a massive heart attack a few years ago. Around 2018. And it really changed him.
I think he is now in the phase of his life where he cares little about producing something of high quality. Or doing things that will put him in a high stress place again.
He is just like fuck it. I am going to do what I can do in the time I have left to both enjoy life and make money for my family. And that is the perspective where I see this NFT thing coming from.

Of his own doing, they guy basicaly lived off fast food orders. I read his book "My boring Ass Life" and even years before his heart attack I remember thinking slow down with the fast food as he detailed every-time he went to buy something and what he ordered over the time the book was written.

Damn this movie is almost two years old? I guess he was never able to secure a distributor.
I really enjoyed his early work and even Clerks 2, but Smith is more than washed up. He lost his touch a long time ago. Even the episodes of The Flash he directed are corny, and that's a CW show.
