Kickstarter: Divinity: Original Sin 2 [Over, $2 million funded]

Anyone know how Kickstarter rewards are handled after a campaign closes? Do they email you or something? (Particularly for personalised rewards)
It's easily going to make the shapeshifter goal, which has been clear for days. The question now is whether it'll make game master mode (it'll be close.)

Neverwinter Nights sure could use a successor right around now. Sword Coast Legends isn't likely to cut it.

Done right, Larian could capture that lucrative market.

You'll get a backer survey asking for the relevant info; the digital rewards will be accessible via a backer portal.

Original Sin is $40 Steam (Canada) so I would consider that a pretty good deal.

Correction, It's $44 in Canada

That said I'm really not sure I want to upgrade right now despite not having Original sin 1 yet.

$50 usd is $66 Canadian right now which is a lot for me, especially with other kickstarters I'm interested in popping up left and right.

Maybe if they'd included the original version and not just the enhanced edition it'd be an easier sell for me

The original edition is the enhanced edition. All copies get upgraded to the EE. Just like it was done for Witcher 1 and 2 for example.

Then why is it going to have 2 separate listings in Steam?

What if I would like to play the game without any of the new enhancements so I can better compare and contrast the the changes for myself?

DOS and DOSEE remain separate for legacy support reasons--mods and edge case hardware issues, mainly. (like not meeting the new minimum requirements) There's not much of a reason to overwrite one when you can retain both.

As far as who gets what, I know owners of DOS will have both, but I'm not sure whether new purchasers of DOSEE will also receive DOS. I'd be inclined to say no, because there'd just be no point--the EE is improved in every conceivable way, basically a remaster/definitive edition of the game.

And, yeah, you'll be waiting until Christmas at least before any sales drop. The release of DOSEE will reset the sale curve. DOS' monstrous success has kept its price very stable, and rightfull so--it's worth the money.

So with PayPal, rpgcodex and rpgwatch, I actually think that the shape shifting mask is already unlocked even though they haven't officially announced it yet.

It did. He means it doesn't go on sale often, and the sale prices are often lacklustre discounts. Larian can do this precisely because DOS has sold so well.
Yeah, I think it's pretty clear that Divinity OS has done best out of the entire wave of new CRPGs. It sold >800k before any deep discounts.

I wish we could move 200k or so of that over to M&MX :P

I actually didn't know i'd get a separate listing and assumed it'd just be upgraded.

Keep in mind that the base game alone is about 70 hours long though, with the EE having even more stuff.

Had to pull out of the kickstarter, game landed on a really bad week finance wise, bills for living come first but stoked that it might reach the other goals. Will paypal it in two weeks when I dont get hit with stupid things like insurance.

Was hoping for a few more skyscrapers near the end there.

I expect that by the end of the campaign along with Paypal contributions, they should have no issues hitting 2 million. The stretch goals seem pretty well planned in terms of what they were expecting to hit. Lol.

Anyoen think this will come to consoles? I've heard great things and want to contribute to their success, but if it's not even coming to consoles, which I primarily play, I might not.

Think it depends of how successful is the Enhanced Edition on consoles.

I held off on playing anymore of the original when I heard about the enhanced edition... But I liked what I did play... Should I back this?

But part of me almost wonders if it will release on PS4... Isn't the original hitting PS4?

Edit: I see the part about other systems.... Hmmmmm

The Enhanced Edition is coming out for PS4 this month. As for OS2, it will initially be PC only, but I think it's safe to assume that if it does well, a console version will probably be released later on.

If the EE console versions sell well, the sequel will probably release there too. It would just be a PC first / port later situation,

Looking at the figures, I think it's got a good chance of getting close enough to the Gamemaster mode that they might well consider it as a post-release endeavour. The mask is pretty much guaranteed, of course.

Edit: Oh, actually guaranteed, given Paypal.

Is it just me or is the live stream not as live as one might expect?

But they'll be back at 17:00 CEST...

EDIT: Ironically enough, it's back!

Off-topic:

While searching for skeleton .gifs, I was reminded how much I like the stop-motion of the skeletons from older movies such as The 7th Voyage of Sinbad and Jason and the Argonauts.

You guys will be doing this in coop?
Yep.
On the Playstation 4?
Yep.
On one screen?
Yep.
That's good, because the second screen isn't working.

...

We'll be back in 1 minute or 45 minutes.

There were people worried that OS2 would turn out to be too serious and "mature".

Looking at these guys I just can't imagine that.
