You guys are way too rough with your systems.
Seriously, people got scratched up touch screens from stuff like The World Ends With You on DS, and now stuff like this?
C'mon...
It is vastly easier if you have a friend you can streetpass with. They don't even need to own the game, just boot it up on their 3DS and set up a gem to trade.
The real screen destroyer was Elite Beat Agents. My wife plays a lot of touch heavy games, so she has a screen protector on hers.
Huh? Got a launch DS phat that is still rocking strong. But playing KI took a toll on my L-button as well. It squeaks now and feels kind of mushy. You have to press that thing quite often in this game and the sturdiness is lacking, has nothing to do with the user. You guys are way too rough with your systems.

I had issues in my first play session but I quickly adjusted after that. I can honestly say that I now thoroughly love the controls and I play with zero cramping. I don't know if my advice will help, but here goes:I really hate to say this cause the game is otherwise great, but the controls kill me it is so hard to even finish one level at a time. I though I would adjust to it, but after a week, I'm still having major issues. It's a real shame that a game that has so much going for it will forever be held back by an awkward control scheme. At least that's my opinion.

...Holy crap. This is a really good idea, and one that'll totally help me out as my friend refuses to buy the game for now. No drawbacks or potential issues with this, right?
So I finally got to fire up a rental of this game, and there's no way I'm buying it without true dual analog through the Circle Pad Pro, and I find out that it's only used for a left-handed control scheme? WTF Sakurai.
I mean, on the ground it's basically a 3rd person shooter. As it is now I use the touch screen for the on-rails sections and the face buttons to aim during the ground sections, and I don't wanna keep switching throughout the whole game. Otherwise Sakura's game design is being awesome as usual, but when the basic core controls are a problem, for me it hurts the whole experience. I can play the game, but it is far from ideal. This is the first time I've needed CCP for a 3DS game too. I was perfectly fine with Metal Gear and Resident Evil on one analog stick.
I'm starting to feel like the 3DS was the wrong platform for this game.
The further you play into this game, the more you realize that it wouldn't work with anything other than stylus controls.
Not true!
It would work with the mouse and maybe Wii remote!

If anybody wants to play any multiplayer, come check out our Together Far Away night at Nintendo World Report tonight at 9pm EST (http://www.nintendoworldreport.com/sitenews/29758).
We'll be doing a few of these, hopefully weekly, and eventually do a tournament. We might have Nintendo-supplied prizes for the tournament as well.
I'm down for a tournament. That'd be awesome. We need to have some gaf members representing to bring home the gold!
Does anyone have any advice for dealing with Chapteron 9.0 intensity? In my numerous attempts to complete this stage, I've only made it to the boss once. My weapon of choice that's gotten me through the chapters leading up to this is a Laser Staff with 3 Ranged, 1 Melee, Overall Defense +6, Recovery Effect +3, Heart Bonus +3, and a couple other inconsequential abilities.24
As for powers, I've generally been running with Pisces Heal lv3 or 4, Healing Recovery, Effect Recovery, Instant Death lv1 for one particular trash mob, and sometimes Quick Charge lv1. Using this, I can usually get to the mid-stage loading point without having used my healing, but the various things after that mess me up real bad, especiallyPseudo Palutena (who now has a crapload of health and fills the screen with projectiles and spheres that shoot other projectiles constantly) and the GST itself.

I'm leaning towards a LvD tournament rather than a FFA.
I was at PAX East and Nintendo held a tournament. While their method was a little weird (it went by total point total, not by team), I like the cooperation required to successfully pull off LvD.
FFA can seemingly get too one-sided when you have a really good player. There are some checks and balances in LvD.
I had issues in my first play session but I quickly adjusted after that. I can honestly say that I now thoroughly love the controls and I play with zero cramping. I don't know if my advice will help, but here goes:
1) The camera is static by default which allows for precise aiming. The camera is then rotated with quick swipes. Keep the "spin like a globe" concept in mind. I had the greatest difficulty getting used to circle strafing as it requires a bit of rhythm as you need to coordinate your scratches with your movement speed, but even that I mastered after a couple hours with the game.
2) Try playing while sitting with the system resting on your right knee and you your right forearm resting your right leg (this obviously assumes that you are right handed). This posture is 100% comfortable for me and I experience zero cramps, even given long play sessions.
I probably did not say anything you haven't already read but those were the two hills I had to surmount before I came to enjoy the controls.
Lot of us here have worked through and found ways to get along with the controls, tell us what you're having problems with and we can probably help you through this. Assuming its a comfort thing, what I do is support the system from the pen holding side with the pinky finger. Try that, try tomcodys method, try whatever else others have suggested, and see if that puts an end to your woes.

Ugh weapon fusion is so frustrating. Found a fusion that gets those attributes you want? 1 star rating. Found a good fusion for the +4 melee dash attack / high melee star rating? Its a staff -.-
Find a fusion that transfers the attributes you want? can't fuse it cause you don't have all the weapons discovered (seriously this is getting annoying)
My problem is that there's just too many weapons you get piled up and trying to decide what I'm keeping and what to fuse and how and so on is overwhelming and I end up sticking to one decent weapon and being reluctant to fuse away anything else.

The timing and precision needed to play this game is something that just can't be replicated by any traditional control scheme. I know that it sounds like a "join-or-die" type situation, but I highly suggest you continue to play and get used to the controls (which can be tweakes to your liking in the options menu), because this truly is the best Nintendo game in a long time.
A few questions:
Is the difference between my Level 4 Mega Laser and my Level 1 Mega Laser only the amount of uses I get out of it? Or is there also a damage difference?.

Is there any easy to understand guide for weapons? I'm talking about something that just says: Palms are good for so-and-so. This specific Palm/Staff/Arm is good for such-and-such. I tried looking at some guides, and I had flashbacks to flunking trigonometry.
How are you guys figuring out exactly how much damage or range your weapons have? Even down to the meter?
Not completely sure on this, but I believe someone stated earlier that Level 4 covers 2 columns instead of 1.
KarmaCow said:When you equip an item you have the option to try it out where you can get that info and test out how it feels.
Speaking of Zodiac Powers, if you die before you complete a level with them, are guaranteed to get it (assuming you quit)? That would be Aries Armor.

The game could've been easily in my top 10 because this truly is the best Nintendo game in a long time but the controls really ruined the experience.
Yeah, I figured more uses means it takes up more Tetris space, but I can't tell if there's an actual difference in damage.

No, I'm not talking about the configuration thing.
I mean when you actually use it out on the field, like the beam of laser is thicker or something.
Just wanted to get a pic of these here. These are my babies. Mostly for single player.
My God! Nice breeding job there with Speed and Melee Dash +4. Even the +2 Stanima is relevant.
Cursed Palm is too slow.
I went with that initially, but Violet Palms are just too good.
I kept trying to get Viridi Palms for a while, but I got a decent one (5 Range/3 Melee and some decent stats), but I just hate the range so much.
This seems to be forgetting some things though and is only so perfect because people keep forgetting them/leaving them out... Controlling Pit with Analog and setting the reticle to be controlled by the Pointer is fine, but that leaves you with one other thing that still needs to be controlled, the thing that gives people the most trouble in the land section to begin with: the Camera. All you have left at this point is the D-pad and that's... not that great for controlling a camera either. And besides, there's something else that's being forgotten about here that would probably be mapped to the D-pad, the same thing that it's used for on the 3DS: the Powers, and there's really no where else for those to go, so..*WiiPic*

lele not you toooooooooooooooo
I was really weirded out by the controls at first and also was, yeah this game is pretty cool, but would've made a better wii game, after like 2 days I made a 180° and couldn't be happier with the way it controls. It's just something about the stylus being tangible that makes the experience sooo good.
