Killer 7 Famitsu score??

Call me crazy, but I have NEVER seen a SINGLE person here question Famitsu's reviews until the Nintendogs perfect score. After that haters pulled the excuse of "Famitsu sucks" out of their ass.

What the ass are you talking about? Famitsu has a LONG history of idiotic, meaningless scores and sub-retarded review text. Remember the Bouncer getting a 10? Have you ever read the review text for the beyond positive Unlimited Saga review? Remember the Tony Hawk review where the reviewer said "I couldn't figure this out in 5 minutes, so I think this is a terrible game"?

FAMITSU SENDS THEIR EDITORIAL AND REVIEWS TO THE ACTUAL COMPANIES FOR THEM TO CHECK BEFORE PRINTING THEM. Everyone knows this.

You must not have been hanging around here very long.

Yea...no.

I make it a point to question Famitsu reviews regularly, and I suggest that everybody do the same, regardless of what's being reviewed. ;) The perception of the mag's reviews by US fans is slowly moving from blind trust to a more sensible realistic view, and you probably saw a lot of that happen during the Nintendogs mess.

people on western message boards have questioned the credibility of famitsu reviews at least since shenmue. "i feel good" and so on.

...but even if their record was unimpeachable, those perfect scores for nintendogs are reason enough to doubt them. i don't read famitsu. i don't have any japanese. so i can't say much about famitsu. but just looking at the scores, they seem to have gone off the rails lately. grossly inflated numbers for all sorts of dodgy ds games.

anyway: i hope killer 7 is as good as these scores suggest.

I really wanted to play it at E3.

However, it wasnt that the lines were long - its just no one playing it would ever give the damn game up.

Seriously, I waited awhile in the Nintendo booth - no dice.
I waited in the Capcom booth - no dice.
I even asked them over and over again to give it up, no one would.

I think most people were really interested in it - they couldn't figure out what the hell they were doing - but at the same time, were trapped in it. It really wasn't worth getting my head eaten off by crazed Nfanatics to argue too long for it. Damn, waiting for Zelda felt shorter.

Never got to play it.

You're crazy then. Famitsu has always been ragged on. It's just that, before Nintendogs, you would have one or maybe two people come into a Famitsu review thread and make a money hat joke. After Nintendogs, we now have 5 or 6 people coming in to make jokes. But they've always been called out.

Agree. Control scheme struck me as being frustrating for the sake of being frustrating. I got a laugh out of watching various people wander over to the demo station, pick up the controller, look incredulously at the control placard, then fumble around for a few minutes and walk away.

I don't know, after going through the tutorial for like one minute I had no problems. The game is actually easier to control than any traditional third person game IMO, because you only have to hold down a button to move and no camera control needed either. I think it's like people expect it to control "normally", and get frustrated when it doesn't. Especially at E3. :P
Only noticable challenge in control for me was the shooting segments, I'm hoping you can adjust the aiming sensitivity in the full release.

HOLD BUTTON TO RUN
LET GO OF BUTTON TO STOP

It's pretty intense stuff, I'll give you that.

It tends to go around in a loop. IGN will give a questionable review, and people will start replying "OMGWTF!?!" "IGN Moneyhats!1" "IGN suck so much, why do you believe their score1!" and "Gamespot are much better".

Then Gamespot give out a dodgy review, and people start yelling "Gamespot suxxor!1" "6.8!11!!", "Famitsu scores are much better".

Loop and continue.

Yeah the demo at E3 left me way too confused to get anything out of it. I'd like to try it out just cos I've always been a big fan of its art style, but after E3, I'd kind of decided to wait until a price drop. If it gets solid reviews across the board, I might have to change my mind.

Hmm, this is quite interesting.
Famitsu reviewed the PS2 and GC versions separately, and they basically said the GC version is superior, thanks to easier controls and faster loading, and that they recommend people to buy that version... but the scores were the same. It's game of the week anyway, which is cool.

I've had faith in this one for quite some time. Good to see it finally getting some positive marks. Nintendo Power had some good things to say about it in their review as well. I'll be picking this one up on the day 1 either way though. GC version of course.

Cool, that's the version I'll be getting anyway. See this should be a new rule here, ban the posting of Famitsu SCORES but allow the posting of the actual CONTENTS of the Famitsu review. That usually makes a ton more sense than the retarded numbers. :D

well. i've never gotten to read famitsu (and am equally ignorant of its history)- so i'm talking out of my ass in a way- but it seems some people take what they say as gold and bow down before the almighty japanese mag just because it's japanese (us fetishizing americans anyway). maybe i'm off base, but no one would get pissed if opm gave nintendogs a perfect score. we'd just say- they must be smoking crack and turn the page.

i support killer 7, good game play or not, just because it's different, and that's something that in itself makes me very excited.

translated from famitsu. Thanks to ikachii.

Score: 9
"Other than the control scheme, [the GC version is] practically identical to its PS2 counterpart. Representing a complete revision of the basics of game production, this intense title bears the stamp of its creators all over it, from the art, sound, word usage and controller button layout. Even so, there are not areas of the game that reflect the creators' pushing their own agenda, and the title stands tall as a complete piece of high-quality entertainment."

Score: 9
"[The title is] more accessible than it appears. Although the basic controls and content of the actual game doesn't differ from its PS2 counterpart, the GC version has a slight edge due to faster loading times and button placement that allows for easier control. The nature of progression through the game is linear, but the player will not sense this thanks to a superb puzzle-solving element involving personality switching."

Score: 8
"Although it appears difficult at first glance, players will find it to be relatively straightforward and easy to grasp once they try it. Plus points go to the surreal laughs spread throughout the game, which fit the title's atmosphere nicely. The basic content [of the GC version] is the same as its PS2 counterpart; however, taking into consideration factors such as load times and ease of control, the GC version is easier to play as a whole."

Score: 10
"While the system inherent in the usage of characters and the shooting sequences is standard, the game effectively pulling you into its world makes it a joy to play. Dialog sequences and cut scenes full of surreal humor add quality flavor to the title. When load times and slight differences in control and appearance are taken into consideration, it might be better to go with this version."

Actually if OPM gave Nintendogs a perfect score I would be really surprised! :lol
