Killer Instinct Gold worth picking up? Sequel to Xbox 360?

People: I've got a bug up my butt to play Killer Instinct again. I own the Super NES version. Should I fork out $45 for a "like-new" version of KI Gold for N64?

For those of you who played the game: do you think it's worth it? I only played it a little back in the day. Never bought.

Also: What are the chances of a KI sequel coming to Xbox 360?

Thanks in advance!

If your wanting to play KI for nostalgia then you probably should just stick with the SNES version. KI Gold is a port of KI 2, which is quite a bit different than the original.

I do like the game. The arcade version is a lot better, but it's still fun. 45 is WAY too much for it. It shouldn't even be half that .

Forum policy dictates I can't mention where to find roms but I can atleast tell you that if you have a fast computer (2.5 ghz and up atleast) you can prolly get by using mame to play the original arcade games. This was an eye opener for me, compared to even the newest mortal kombat these games seem pretty ancient in playability. I hope if a new one is made it manages to modernize itself a bit...

I bought the game used for $10 I think, a month ago and it hasn't aged well. The characters are very blurry (didn't notice this a few years ago) and the gameplay is not as good as i remember.

Most high level KI players from back in the day will tell you that KI2 was horrible compared to KI1. However, if you thought the series was just about 40-hit combos, and Orchid flashing people... and you liked that, then you'll probably like KI2/Gold.

Rare won't confirm KI3 exists, but most seem to think it does and will debut on Xbox 360 in 2006. Unless MS somehow gets Sega to make VF exclusively for 360, they'll need an exclusive fighter for 2006, so it makes sense it could be KI3.

Cool, thanks guys.

I picked up KI Gold today for 15 clams. Not bad, but honestly, I like that kickin' little Super NES game better. The characters are larger, the stages actually look better (all ACM rendered without the blocky polygons) and of course, it's got all the original characters.

Played them both side by side and, goddamn, that 16-bit KI really blows me away.

In any case, thanks for your help, people. Oh, and while I am currently planning to sit out the Xbox360 launch, I will buy that console immediately the moment Rare announces KI3. :)

***edit*** Oh! My cart had the aerial camera set to ON - hence the smaller-looking characters. I turned it off and the game looks just as I remember it. Sweet!
