Can't wait. TJ Combo is very fun to play as. Have they said anything about story stuff? I noticed when you try to use TJ in arcade mode, it says check back later for TJ's rise to fame (or something like that). Will there also be more story for the original 8 characters?

Good to see a new OT! I look forward to the months of fun and new stuff this game will be offering.
All they've really said is that they plan to redo the story in some ways, and that stuff will be appearing late in the "season". The originals are probably getting some of the upgrades that S2 story style will see, but we haven't heard much concrete yet.
They did ask if we'd like multi endings and less to each story, or one ending each character with more story content within. So there's something.
There doesn't seem to be talk of a discount yet. If I had to guess, it probably won't see any major shifts in price until the whole thing is out. It'll probably be an ocassional Deal With Gold after that, or something.
Yes, story was added before Double Helix left. Each character got an intro, and 3 endings earned by various conditions involving no continues and ultra use. We learned about the new threat that seems to be part of the game now, and I believe she or her faction's cronies are suppose to be the new boss that'll debut this season.

Judging from the textual streams, Riptor is heavily hinted to be back in S2.

I think KI S1 will go on sale when S2 releases. Maybe half off.
I don't know that I would agree with that. There has been nothing hinting at Riptor being in anymore so than Cinder.
Gargos and Eyedol will not be returning.
Tusk has a higher chance of landing in season 3.
Considering his tease in the TJ Combo trailer I think Cinder is guaranteed to show up in this season.

So, how does the boxed retail version of this work? TJ combo is included, but does the rest of season 2 need to be bought via the marketplace? And does the boxed version contain all of season 1's content? Wouldn't mind a physical copy of this game.
Still my biggest reason for wanting an xbone. I'm honestly not sure if I should grab a sunset overdrive bundle or wait until master chief collection is out.... hrmm..
Kind of surprised that season 1 isn't on permanent discount though.
Should have had a package deal - season 1 + season 2 combo breaker pack for 29.99 ( new owners). Ultra edition of both for 59.99.
Maybe give a 25% discount to people who bought the ultra edition of season 1 and pre-order the ultra edition of season 2.
I don't know , just tossing out ideas. Either way, I'm interested to see where the season goes character wise.
Last time around we got 6 characters at launch, the 7th character 2 months later and the third character about 3 months after that (with arcade mode).
Jago, Saberwulf , Glacius , Thunder, Sadira and finally orchid were revealed over the course of a few months. Spinal and eventually fulgore after that.
Season 2 launched early with just TJ combo and Maya coming this week.
So who is left ?
S2 CH3 , as the OP shows seems to be a new character that looks like a mummy but isn't apparently ?
CH4,5,6 are being worked on at the same time as character 3. That will take the game up to february of next year. So who can we expect ?
Well, there are only 4 original cast members left if you don't count bosses - Kim Wu and Tusk from KI2 and Riptor and Cinder from KI1. I'd like to think they'd want to use up the old cast before adding in anymore new characters , so some variation of 3 characters out of those 4 should make it in.
I'm thinking we will get Riptor after the not-a-mummy. Then Tusk followed by Kim Wu. Character 7 will end up being cinder and character 8 may end up just being shadow Jago but tuned to his own move list rather then simply being a skin and voice.
Just guesses though.

Since it comes with Combo, the price of S2 would be discounted I believe.
And yes the retail disc comes with everything in the $20 bundle of KI (no alternate costumes / KI Classic)
We know this in terms of characters
Maya, combo, notamummy, and aria... The boss which was teased at the end of season 1 (whom might be playable)
Then we have 2 new, 2 old. One of those old is either riptor or cinder. The other is riptor, cinder, Tusk, or kim wu.
We will know which the old characters will be Monday or Tuesday.

That's actually what I'm doing. I'm waiting to see if they release the whole thing on one disc after season 3.

I don't give a shit about alternate costumes thankfully so it looks like I may take the plunge then. The lower RRP of £15 for the boxed version is spot-on too. If only other fighting game developers would take note. Especially when it comes to the games DLC practices.

That's actually a good point. When does season 2 exactly end anyway. Is there a given deadline for all of S2's content to be out by?

Doubt it, they seem to have the best investment for return right now. Future success of the franchise looks better thanks to not having a bloated AAA budget. Other developers could take notes.
Best way to think of it is buying pieces of the game
Each piece is $20. 3 pieces = $60. 24 characters and 24 stages for $60.
The only part that really feels low budget is the story mode, IMO
The rest just seems less complete.

I'm still iffy on the changes and I'm really not feeling like TJ Combo or Maya have their polish yet. Hopefully when KI-S2 they're be "more complete".
I have a feeling we will.
I thought I'd bring a fun way bring Season 2 in would be to issue a little combo challenge for everyone. (It's a part of my Tidbit series)
Combo challenge:
Basically 1) using any means keep any character juggled for as long as possible.
If not that 2) How many TJ Combo reps can you get?
