Kitase interview about Compilation of FFVII

I recently interviewed Kitase about Dirge of Cerberus and the Compilation of Final Fantasy VII as a whole. I also ended up talking a lot more about Final Fantasy X-2 than I feel entirely comfortable with. It's in this month's OPM, but 1UP.com has the full thing:

Kitase Interview at 1up.com

Hope you find it somewhat informative/interesting.

OPM: Hironobu Sakaguchi, who started the Final Fantasy series, recently left Square to start a new company, MistWalker. His company is making two RPGs for the Xbox 360. How do you feel about competing on next-generation consoles against the father of Final Fantasy?
Good question! And a great answer, too. Respect for Kitase +1

Great interview, really informative.

AC completes Cloud's story.

Hmm now i'm really interested in AC. I've consciously tried to stay in the dark as much as possible but have accidentally heard a few things that may or not be rumors that i'm really curious about now. Dammit why'd they have to delay this lol.

OPM: Your name has become synonymous with the modern Final Fantasy series, but if you could make your dream game--something outside of the Final Fantasy series--what kind of game would you make?

Kitase: Storywise, I can't really say anything yet. But gameplaywise, I'm a big fan of the gun shooting game I'm working on right now. I really enjoy playing FPSes like Half-Life 2. If it's a non-Final Fantasy title, I'd be glad to try a gun shooting or FPS type of game.

New multi-platform franchise?

I don't think he was talking about anything in particular. But the fact that he couldn't say anything about what type of story themes he'd like to explore awakes the wild speculator in me. :D

Nice interview but I'm sad that the interviewer didn't ask him about why Square continues to hate on the seemingly large demand for a FFVII remake.

Glad to see him fielding a question about FFX-2's controversy. Though I doubt it will change the minds of those who hate the game to begin with. Meh!

Good interview.

Before Square Enix was Square Enix, when it was still Squaresoft, there were multiple key titles like Mana, Saga, and Final Fantasy within the company, so the teams were sort of competing with each other to make better games than the rest. So a culture like that already existed.

Now its all about the benjamins.

I think a FFVII remake would pretty much seal the fact that they're milking the shit out of the franchise. :)

True but that's not exactly already hard to see. Seriously though does anyone believe an FFVII remake WOULDN'T be damn profitable?

That's why I think the remake is pretty much a given. SE knows they probably can cash big time with a FFVII remake. After all the FFVII side-projects and the tech demo, it seems more of a question when they announce it.

Good interview but disappointed nothing was brought up about the NA release for Advent Children considering Square keep swatting away all these various release dates as just rumours and nothing more :(

So...what up with Crisis Core? I'm guessing he just wouldn't divuldge anything of substance? I hope you didn't forget to ask.

I don't think they've.....started it. I mean they're probably throwing around ideas but until AC and KH2 get out the actual staff is kinda busy.

but nomura stated that they development is underway and that he likes the direction it's going in.

though I'd it being pushed aside until the more immediate projects have been released.

But you aren't Patrick Klepack... I'm confused.
