With the arrival of 2025, various Japanese game creators have been sharing notable statements via the Japanese outlet Famitsu to hype up fans or temper expectations.

One standout comment originates from Yosuke Hayashi, known for several beloved projects like Nioh, Rise of the Ronin, Ninja Gaiden, Dead or Alive, and more.

AAA Studio’s Mission and Scope

Console and PC Focus

Hayashi confirms that 2025 will see the first game released from Koei Tecmo‘s latest studio, AAA Studio. While this team’s precise plans and output are yet to be seen, there has been discussion surrounding its future.

It was previously stated in a shareholders’ Q&A briefing that the studio is aiming to prioritize the console and PC markets.

Ambitious Production Scale

Team Size: The general goal is to produce AAA games more consistently, with three being roughly 5,000 staff, illustrating a lofty sense of scale.

Consistency: AAA Studio intends to develop AAA games more consistently, focusing on maintaining high production values and regular output.

You can view the quoted comment from Hayashi below, translated by Gematsu:
In 2025, we’ll be able to deliver the first title from Koei Tecmo Games’ newly established development studio, AAA Studio. We’re currently hard at work on its development!

Make Ninja Gaiden and Dead or Alive great again!

Yes mate, love Koei Tecmo, Team Ninja. Would love a new Ninja Gaiden and DOA. I like fighting games but never been amazing at them but DOA is quite simple to get into and the counter mechanic clicks with me. Used to play DOA3 and 4 alot, a few of us would set up a winner stays on lobby and randoms join, the lobbys were great with the random avatars and everyone talking shit while you wait your turn with the current fight up on the screen. Always felt a little less serious than other fighting games, sadly didnt get into DOA 5 or 6 as much due to a lack of time but funnily enough I have been playing them abit the last week so a DOA 7 would be good news.

Please God, give us a Ninja Gaiden 4...

Who are we kidding though, we will have another Nioh and Rise of the Ronin before that, am I right ?
In fact, they must be thinking that pure action/character action games have no place anymore in today's market judging by the soulslike-ification of every action(nowadays RPG) game out there and their sales...
Personally, I am tired of the "press right stick in as to target lock" and its methodical approach to enemies/combat where you have to engage with 1 enemy at a time otherwise you're pretty much fooked, it's gotten tiresome at this point.
