LA Rush screens

a story in San Francisco Rush? ? ? ?

No, not in S.F. Rush, but in L.A. Rush!

Your name is Trickz with a freaking Z and some dude rips off all your cars except one and sets up street race competions, so you have to win them so you can ultimately battle him. [/paraphrase] *fart noise*

Yeah but i thought he was saying the story was not like a Rush game. Like there was a story in a previous Rush game :lol

Not sure why everyone is going crazy here. While it doesn't look like rush, watching a couple videos makes me think it doesn't look bad. Looks alot better in motion than it does in screens, it seems.

Wait, why are people claiming that the 2049 in Midway Treasures 3 is the DC version? I've seen vids, and I know people who played it at E3, and it definitely had the coins from the arcade version (something like 100 per track) and not from the home versions (8 gold, 8 silver per track).

However, just to counteract myself, a friend played the Stunt mode at E3, which wasn't in the arcade version....(crosses fingers and hopes that battle is in there too)

P.S. L.A. Rush seems fine, I'll play it, but I don't really like that the Rush name is on it at all. People say it doesn't handle like Rush and it doesn't look like Rush, and the story sure ain't Rush. Seems like it's only called Rush for the somewhat limited fan-base cash-in.

P.P.S. Critical Velocity looks hot.

because almost everyone is saying that Rush 2049 in MAT3 is the Dreamcast version - Midway has also said it would be "the console version" which I assume means the Dreamcast version, not the N64 version.

yes, it is odd, because the VIDEOS on IGN, GameSpot, GameTrailers, etc show the ARCADE version of 2049. but for now, I will assume it is the Dreamcast version since this is the official word from Midway.

my stance is, I would much prefer the ARCADE version of both Rush 2049 and Hydro Thunder. there is an Alcatraz track remade for Rush 2049 arcade that was NOT in the Dreamcast version, and some other changes were made to Dreamcast 2049 that make it different from the arcade, besides the slightly different PowerVR-based visuals vs the 3Dfx Voodoo3 visuals of the arcade.... in short, I want the arcade versions of 2049 and HT since I already own the DC versions.

Err, yeah, that was the point. "The story sure ain't Rush" as in "the fact that it has a story sure isn't like any other Rush game"...sorry to beat a dead horse.

And I do think it looks like it could turn out well, more from the vids than from the screens. It's just that, for my taste, 2049 (home version especially) was way better than any of the other Rush games, so this is a step in the wrong direction (no wings, no battle, no gauntlet, etc.). I sure hope they keep the coins--I saw some in the videos, but they weren't in hard to reach places, so who knows.

Basically L.A. Rush looks like it has some potential to be a fun Burnout/Midnight Club/early Rush hybrid. I admit that if this came down the pipe without the Rush name on it, I'd say "Hey, that's sorta like Rush, sweet!" instead of "Hey, it's a bummer L.A. Rush isn't all that much like Rush."

Not that I don't believe you, but do you have any links that show this at all? I'm not trying to be an ass, I just genuinely hadn't heard anybody say it'd actually be the Dreamcast version until this thread.

sure I will try to find some links for you - you're not being an ass - I have an interest in this too, and I really hope it turns out to be the arcade versions of SF Rush 2049 and Hydro Thunder in the end.

not much here but indications of the DC 2049 Rush

Rush 2049 IS THE DC VERSION.

When they announced MAT3 I sent Midway an email myself asking that it be the home version.

At E3 I was so goddamn excited to find out it was the DC version! Stunt tracks, battle, it all works. Sadly, there's loading times now, but they're not that bad.

This game is WORTH $20 for 2049 ALONE.

The only thing that'd make me even happier is adding in Alcatraz to Rush 2049.

It was in the arcade version, but taken out of the home version because it was "in too much."

The movies of LA Rush look pretty good to me. I look forward to it.

SF Rush 2049 would KICK ALL SORTS OF ASS if it had online multiplayer!

Im looking forward to this. Those pics look shit but the game in motion looks sweet imo. I loved all the previous Rush games (Apart from Rush 2 on the N64 which I have never played) and managed all golds on the DC Rush 2049.

As for the comment above about the DC version of 2049 being on MAT3, Im pretty sure thats wrong. There was a video preview at IGN showing off the games. Im not 100% but if they did add the DC version to MAT3 then it wouldnt really be MAT now would it?

I agree with you. it makes sense that the ARCADE versions of SF Rush 2049 and Hydro Thunder would be in MAT3. the VIDEO of Rush 2049 is even of the arcade version - however, Midway themselves have said in emails that they are putting in the Dreamcast (console) version of Rush 2049. and people who said they played MAT3 at E3 also say it was the Dreamcast version - Yet, I still cling to a shred of hope that it will end up being the arcade versions of both Rush 2049 and Hydro Thunder. I hope that all of the 'signs' that are pointing towards MAT3 getting the Dreamcast versions and not the arcade versions, are wrong. but I have a feeling in the pit of my stomache that it will indeed be the Dreamcast versions of Rush 2049 and Hydro Thunder.

If that's the way it is, then what is the real 'worth' of MAT3 for the arcade-purist ??? (besides the ancient games that are not really that exciting...IMO).... well, the real worth of MAT3, for me, will be SF Rush The Rock: Alcatraz Edition - because it is going to be the *arcade* version of the game, because there was no console version at all - and to me, the oldest Rush (arcade) games were the best of the series - Rush The Rock has ALL the old tracks plus the ones that made it Rush The Rock. so with Rush The Rock, we should have no fucked up console conversion but instead the arcade directly ported.

FYI, San Francisco Rush on the N64 (And I bet even the PSX one) had Alcatraz as an unlockable track. :)

yep, I'm aware of that. however from reading the IGN64 interview from '98, the Midway dude said that a chuck of the Alcatraz track had been taken out or modifed.

http://ign64.ign.com/articles/062/062042p1.html

Also, something to look forward too is this: as you know, the N64 Rush had like 4 additional tracks made for it which were not in the original arcade SF Rush. these N64 tracks were taken an put into the arcade Alcatraz Edition, and naturally they were better thanks to the arcade's beefier hardware compared to N64. It'll be really nice to cruise those tracks on the current consoles in Midway Arcade Treasures 3 :)

WOW, looks good to me. Kinda look like street legal and street legal redline racing on the pc tho. Can someone tell me is this game coming out for the xbox or pc , because i want it?

* I refuse to buy ps2, sorry sony fans *

Looks sweet. Could have been a GTA killer if it wasnt mostly based on racing. Technology is really impressive.
