Trains are not like cars where you can just step on thr brakes and it comes to a stop in a few meters.

I know that, but why they didn't called him at the radio when the elycopter crushed?! A train conductor has no way of communicating with the external world?!
Don't wanna insist because i don't know how much time passed between the crash and the start of ithe video.

It's actually more like 5 seconds; they extract him at the 10 second mark and the train hits at the 15 second mark.

The fact that it's police there indicates that not much time has passed at all otherwise firefighters and paramedics would be on scene and those guys show up in a matter of minutes so this was probably patrol cars that were close to the scene of the crash that responded immediately.

I told my gf the same thing, like something out of a movie. How many mirrors did this guy break to survive a plane crash, only to almost get taken out by a train. It's just the start of 2022, but I can't see a more unlikely sequence of events unfolding like this again this year. Gauntlet fucking thrown down. 2022 could be bonkers.

You want to focus efforts on calling in to some local council or council body (where you might encounter some wait time) to stop a train instead of looking into the injured pilot sitting in front of you with an incoming freight train?
Things could have happened so quick that the officers main priority was to just get him out of there. You put me in that position and I would have the same reaction to get the guy out of there.
Yeah you're not going to have me standing there hands on hips calling into the train department to stop a 1000+ ton train barreling down on a injured dude.

A train dispatch center is totally separate entity. You have to figure out the name of the owners of the railway, call their number and choose the correct option to get a message relayed. Going by the video, they probably barely had time to rush to him and get him out let alone do all of that. I work for a 911 center where we have to call various train dispatch centers when we have a suicidal person on the tracks, or a car upside down, etc. Their dispatch for our area is in Canada and they communicate with trains from Canada to Central Illinois, at least. That's just what I know of.
Yeah, fuck those people. I've worked in dispatch for 2 counties for 14 years and not ONCE has an officer shot someone. They rush to domestics and help women, children, men in need. I got temp banned for defending them on Era. It's a cesspool when it comes to being an unreasonable hive mind about that profession. Humans make mistakes and a small percentage may be bad apples, but that is no reason to condemn them all.
