Hey, I am looking for a decent laptop that is not exactly for gaming. A Centrino CPU power of about 1.3GHz and 256MB+ RAM would be great for me. Most importantly, it must be rather small and extremely light. Anyways, I have looked at Asus S5N which is really good, but a little bit on the expensive side ($1800CDN). Then I looked IBM's Thinkpad, but I am not exactly sure of IBM's future and all. So... please give me some advice. Thanks !

If you're going to have WinXP on it I'd suggest having at least 512 MB RAM.

Considering that you get $250 worth of goodies with the Asus...I consider it a good deal.

256 is fine for XP. We're not talking desktops here.

Oh, and get a Thinkpad. Typing from one now in fact.

IBM isn't going anywhere... Selling off a part of their business, which on the grand scheme is a drop in the bucket, won't affect anything in regards to a laptop.

So... nobody is going to recommend Dell or HP or Toshiba's laptops ? I guess IBM's Thinkpad and Asus S5N are pretty much the best choices I have given my requirements ?
