I need a desktop replacement of a laptop soon enough, and I'm getting ready to buy one within the next month. The X800 mobile finally launches in a few days, and I'm planning on buying one with this chipset (in order to play the current games decently well).

I'm interested in top performance and reliability. I haven't had a whole lot of personal laptop experience (I only own an older Sony VAIO micro-notebook), so I'm wondering if anyone here has any good suggestions...

I was being sarcastic, being that Athlon64 first landed in eMachines laptops.

:p

So what companies are getting the X800?

This is what they said...

From December 2004 onwards, MOBILITY RADEON X800 will be available from such industry leading notebook designers as Alienware, Eurocom, Rock and Velocity Micro, with additional designs to be announced

Of course, actually using a laptop with the X800 chipset in it on your lap is discouraged, as it will cause any and all pubic hairs to instantly singe and then burst into flames.

I don't know. My e-machines laptop is really nice. AMD 64 3000+ 1.8 ghz, 512 ram, radeon mobility 9600. I've had it almost a year with no problems. I don't know much about the company but this laptop is really nice. Oh yeah the LCD Widescreen is great too.

Only downside is that the video adaptor is a humongous performance bottleneck.
