Larian "Baldur's Gate 3 Xbox Series X Between Sep - Nov '23. Already in 'Good Shape' "

adamsapple

Or is it just one of Phil's balls in my throat?
I couldn't find the news announcement thread for the xbox version being confirmed for 2023 so posting a new one.

"It's 2023. And 2023 is narrowing, so it's already pretty precise in my book. Between September and November... So, as fast as we can honestly," Vincke said.

Vincke says that Larian Studios is currently prioritizing the release of the PS5 version, which is due out in a couple days, as well as the patches for the PC version. After that, Larian Studios will shift over to the Xbox version.

Larian Studios plans to release Baldur's Gate 3 on xbox "as fast as we can."

"So the Xbox Series X version was already in good shape last time I looked at it. So we're just going to go through the motions, 'Okay, what do we still need to do?' Vincke says.

"There's a bunch of stuff that needs to happen to finalize it. But I think from a content point of view and from a technical point of view, we're actually very close."

After that, Vincke says, Larian Studios will proceed through the usual testing and certification requirements ahead of release.

Have there been any PS5 impressions yet? I‘m tempted to get the deluxe version so I can start playing tomorrow.

Good news for Series owners.

Game is amazing but holy hell can it be very unforgiving. A lot of luck involved. My advice? Save early. Save often. Oh. And strip everyone ass naked while killing things and talking to people. I'd post pictures but I'd be banned for porn, basically.

Open .ini file
add EnableSplitScreen=False
Save and close .ini file.

Done and dusted.

The reason it'll take longer is obvious and it has to do with Starfield's release date. MS can't canibalize even more the sales of their hit that will be canibalized by the fact thatthe game s coming to GP.

I've got the PS5 Deluxe Digital edition preordered and preloaded, so I'll be playing in 24 hours (not that I'm counting or anything...). I've already invested and will be playing it regardless, but curious about your experience.

What you wrote is good advice for any RPG, but I wasn't planning on save scumming. At least not much. How about the fail states? One of the things I really loved about Disco Elysium (not directly comparable for sure, but that game does have a ton of stat checks + rolls as well) was that you can fail spectacularly and still have a very enjoyable, or at least bizarre and unpredictable, time.

So more than 50% of the Xbox community who bought the Xbox S left behind? Any update for those S folks?

You know, the console that punches above it's weight pound for pound king.

It's very much in the same vein. As long as you're okay with the consequences of random failures, you'll have no trouble in that regard. However, there have been at least 5 times, that I remember, in the first 10 to 15 hours where I walked into an area, completely oblivious, that was dangerous. Got into a fight and had my ass absolutely waxed. Had not saved for a while and the autosave hadn't kicked in recently.

You also are limited in how many times you can use most abilities and spells. Not on a per fight basis. It's persistent. You actually have to go back to camp, sleep, and come back to recharge many spells. So you will frequently have to fight, rest, go back. Fight, rest, go back. If you don't, you'll find yourself at a huge disadvantage the next time you fight. You do get two partial rests that you can just press a button, heal a fair mount, and get a certain amount of certain actions back. But some require you to actually take the big camp break. Which also requires items you find out in the world. So go klepto and grab anything not bolted down that looks edible or literally calls itself a camp supply. Ignore nothing. So much in this game looks like a background or doodad but it's actually used for something.

The game is amazing. I was a little overwhelmed at first because while I love RPGs, this one was quite a bit more involving. I do recommend you use the environment to your advantage whenever you can. Like a bridge I destroyed to instantly kill a boss by making her fall to her death. Knocking goblins into bottomless pits. Causing overhead objects to fall on my enemies. The more you think and use anything you can, the easier of a time you'll have. Oh. And Karlach is the fucking best. An A+ personality. Fun to talk to. Grab her as a companion.

Exactly no point and click movement.
This is my only issue with these games, I've always hated "point and click" character movement... I played WC3 and and lot of LoL but that only cemented my preference.

I'll probably give this a chance some day knowing you can move with stick.

Yeah, short rest vs. full rest, it's standard D&D. Incidentally, I'll be going for a rogue + warlock build, the latter can refill the spells back with just a short rest.

Oh you don't have to tell me. It's an RPG. I will be picking up everything and anything I can :)

Arrrhh! I really wish it released on Series X & PS5 at the same time because I don’t know whether to get it on PS5 now or wait to see what the Series X version is like & get it on that. I think this game would suit quick resume well on the Series X but how long will it be to wait? If it’s later on in September then maybe I’ll wait but I don’t wanna wait until November. Sigh…

Don't think you can go wrong with either version. They will be pretty similar.

Nah, I think it has more to do with them prioritizing BG3 on PC and PS5 right now. MS just changed their tune to their policy last week my guy. This is on Microsoft.

This. Said it some time ago when all this started.

I'm sure the XSS version runs just fine, outside of the splitscreen. This game doesn't require the moon and stars to run, it works with 8GB of system memory and 2GB of video memory on PC as it is (though this is below spec). Would be just a matter of getting the settings right. Though they do have to cut out the splitscreen in a way that leaves the rest working.

Look, listen... look. The Series S is the perfect Emulation machine. It sort of does the thing in regards to modern gaming, sort of but, aye, Silent Hill 2 fucking banging on it..

Thats all I got. I bought three of the fucking things and a portable screen, it's dogshit at modern gaming, plays Escape from the Gungeon pretty damn good but is a cracking emulation tool

Oh, and it's small. It does stuff, dont knock it!

Arrh, I’m still waiting for this Series X version to release! I just wanna see how it compares to the PS5 version before I buy. It’ll probably be pretty much the same but I want to see it before I commit to buy. If it’s the same as the PS5 version I might buy on PS5 so I can play the game on the Portal in bed :)

They will almost identical, may as well just get on PS5 if you want to play on the portal.

Btw, not sure if youre interested in this or not, but you can order the PS5 disc for BG3 at playasia, comes in english.
Yeah, I'm 100% interested in a physical release, but I'm still hopeful they'll be doing a western one too, maybe later this year or early next year. I actually talked about here why people shouldn't rush into getting the CERO BG3 release that's currently up for preorder on PlayAsia.

PS5 version would be a better option anyway.

- More likely to be better optimized, not being tethered to Series S directly.
- Portal portability experience if you are buying that
- A PS5 Pro patch very likely by next year
- Better PS6 compatibility (higher res and better frame rates) because of the aforementioned PS5 Pro patch.
