Listening to it...it's not all that bad so far. Can't really put much of a thought to text yet, but I like it. 'course, it helps that it was $2 at Goodwill (!).

You're like 10 years late to the party, man! The party is long past, and there's a vacant lot where the party once was. And all the attendees are middle-aged and sad now.

Seasick, Yet Still Docked is cool, and Tomorrow. Out of all the solo stuff, I think this album is my least favorite, though it might be tied with Maladjusted...

National Front Disco is one of Morrissey's best songs imo. The live version on the "Beethoven was deaf" album is even better.

Has someone more insight into Morrissey's lyrics on this one? I think I'm able to grasp the sense of it, but I'm not 100% sure about it.

David, the wind blows
The wind blows ...
Bits of your life away
Your friends all say ...
"Where is our boy ? Oh, we've lost our boy"
But they should know
Where you've gone
Because again and again you've explained that
You're going to ...

Oh, you're going to ...
Yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah
England for the English !
England for the English !

David, the winds blow
The winds blow ...
All of my dreams away
And I still say :
"Where is our boy ? Ah, we've lost our boy"
But I should know
Why you've gone
Because again and again you've explained
You've gone to the ...

National, ah ...
To the National ..
There's a country; you don't live there
But one day you would like to
And if you show them what you're made of
Oh, then you might do ...

But David, we wonder
We wonder if the thunder
Is ever really gonna begin
Begin, begin
Your mom says :
"I've lost my boy"
But she should know
Why you've gone
Because again and again you've explained
You've gone to the :

National
To the National
To the National Front Disco
Because you want the day to come sooner
You want the day to come sooner
You want the day to come sooner
When you've settled the score

Oh, the National
Oh, the National
Oh, the National
Oh, the National
Oh, the National

Yeah, National Front Disco is about British skinheads. There was a shitstorm over there about the song when he wrapped himself in the Union Jack after that song at a show IIRC.

Your Arsenal (back when it came out) was the disc that introduced me to the power and glory that is Moz. For some reason it had a lot of pull on a fresh-faced 13-year old that was usually listening to Pearl Jam or Technotronic. It's probably my second or third favorite solo album, but it probably the BEST for people just getting into Moz because it's got some really good rock tunes, and the production (by Mick Ronson of Bowie fame) is top notch.

My neighbor loaned it to me, along with a bunch of other GREAT stuff (Furs, Inspiral Carpets, XTC, etc) and he completely changed my outlook on music and life.

I really liked Maladjusted, it was pretty heavy for a Morrissey album and the guitar work was great. Your Arsenal's probably my least favorite solo album, but it does have good moments.

I have always thought that Your Arsenal was his best solo album, though Vauxhall and I and his most recent album are quite close. Maladjusted had some great moments, and some of the songs on Southpaw Grammar are criminally underrated.
