Latest UK Charts - It's not looking so good...

NFS looks like becoming the Xmas No1 for a 3rd year in a row... Sonic Rush finally makes an appearance and Shadow is on the rise! :lol

I'd have expected that drop for 360 games. It's still very hard to get one, as most places are saying they're still forfilling pre-orders. A friend of mine rang around quite a few places on the weekend in pursuit of two units (one for his nephew) and no where would say when theyll have them available openly to the public again. Doubtful it will be before Christmas, so Microsoft are really shooting themselves in the foot.

The Christmas Chart is only a week away and EA has the All Formats No1 firmly in its sights for a third successive year as ‘Need for Speed: Most Wanted’ holds on at the top and ‘FIFA 06’ jumps one place from No3 to No2 (both titles are available on 8 formats: PS2, PSP, 360, XB, DS, GBA, PC and GC).

‘Need for Speed: Most Wanted’ accounts for almost twice the sales of nearest rival ‘FIFA 06’ even with a drop this week of 24% in sales. Retailer promotion of ‘Call of Duty: Big Red One’ (PS2/XB/GC) adds firepower to Activision’s war-themed FPS, up 3 places from No6 to No3, while anticipation for next week’s film release boosts Ubisoft’s ‘King Kong: Official Game of the Movie’ (PS2/360/XB/GBA/DS/PC/GC) from No8 to No4. Konami’s ‘Pro Evolution Soccer 5’ (PS2/PSP/XB/PC), down from No2 to No6 and Vivendi’s ‘50 Cent: Bulletproof’ (PS2/XB), down from No5 to No9 are the only other Top 10 games to decrease in sales (along with ‘Need For Speed: Most Wanted’). The release of the Narnia film helps Buena Vista Games enter the All Formats Top 10 with ‘Narnia: The Lion, The Witch and The Wardrobe’ (PS2/DS/GBA/PC), up from No14 to No8, while the release of the XB, GC and PC versions propels Ubisoft’s ‘Prince of Persia: The Two Thrones’ from No29 to No15 (PS2 out last week). Other strong performers include Sony’s ‘Buzz! The Music Quiz’ on PS2, up 9 places to No18 and THQ’s ‘The Incredibles: Rise of the Underminer’ (PS2/GBA/DS/XB/GC/PC), released 5 weeks ago and entering the Top 40 for the first time this week at No25. After scoring 10 new releases in the All Formats Top 40 last week, XB360 games are still well represented with 8 Top 40 games.

Sonic Rush made a bit of a come back this week. LCS is the leader in the handheld software Wars although it dropped a couple of spots. Mario Kart Ds dropped a couple of spots too, although it is a shame the bundles for it and Nintendogs don't count in these charts(the pink DS is back in stock).

Problem is there's no machines, therefore software sales have taken a big hit.

Yah, definitely no question about that..

Hopefully the software sales of the launch titles rise again, though.. :D Well, the DESERVING launch titles.. :)

GTA has got some legs. Could it surpass the 1 million mark worldwide? :O

Easily, if it hasn't already. Sales area over 400K in USA alone, and Izzy hints GTA is selling even better in Europe. By the end of December the game will be over one million sold.

The French >>>>>> The Brits.

In light of the shiter than shite taste my landbrothers have, I think this is the best time for me to relocate now.

Don't they ever fucking learn?

Yeesh, only one (possibly two, CoD2 is multiplatform) X360 title in the top 40 on its own merits. And thats at 32. Thats really indicative of the launch sellout, hardly any software shifted...no hardware to play it on.
Heres the chart because imageshack's a bitch.

Good to see Sonic Rush hit the top 40! Abysmal sales for DS software in general though.

What's so abysmal about the DS software sales? It has two exclusives in the top 40 and a good percentage of the sold DS' is bundles which don't count into the sales.
And it's not like the PSP (or the GBA ^^) would have a dozen games in the top 40, it has GTA and World Tour Soccer (and probably one or two multiplattform games that would also be in the top 40 on their own).

stop buying 50cent games u fucking chav cunts.

Hear hear. And I'd point out to borghe that the 50 Cent game isn't based on a film, but that just makes it look worse.

I reckon that "After scoring 10 new releases in the All Formats Top 40 last week, XB360 games are still well represented with 8 Top 40 games." in the chart blurb is play-nice-politik. Given that PDz is the one exlcusive in the chart and the "well represented" other titles have the majority of sales (around 85-95%) on other formats (mostly PS2), then the comment is hollow.

I'm pretty sure its something like 5/2 PSP/DS, but regardless, not cracking the top 20 is pretty bad. Both handhelds game sales are pretty bad actually, but DS having less titles in the top 40 makes it go from bad to abysmal in my mind. I know the MK bundle was out and should prove popular but I can only look at the facts as presented.

Why can't they separate the titles by format in the UK chart when they do in the FR chart?

Because they are nice releasing it in the first place?

The report does actually have numbers for the various titles and gives a nice handy dandy format percentage as well. (eg PS2 69,000 69%, PC 14,000 14%, Xbox 10,000 10% using nice round numbers :D )

Exactly, doesn't someone get the Chart Track reports like they do with NPD and be kind enough to give us an idea of some of the numbers?! :)

OK - probably the last update for a while, might be able to do one next week though:

DS: 77,000 (still almost completely out of stock - 10,000 Pink bundles went straight in then out)
PSP: 69,000 (still in free supply I believe :) )
GBA/Micro : 34,000 (SP almost out of stock now - Micro picking up)

Not that I take it personally when people damn an entire country's taste based on these charts, but has anyone ever tried combining the sales per game across platforms for other regions besides the UK? You may find that all the crappy franchises get pushed to the top of the chart - of course you may not, i've never tried either....

No, I agree. I made the same point with November 2004s npd- if you combine all the games you got a similarly depressing chart just as you say.

Those were Mario Kart sales to date since launch.

Silver solus DS is also available, as are blue nintendogs bundles and pink and blue solus. Silver solus currently the biggest seller after the Mario Kart bundle due to the lack of Nintendogs bundles.

so how much has Nintendogs sold LTD?

Really impressive for the UK alone. Half of all mario karts being sold as bundles makes its chart position pretty much irrelevant.
